What I loved most with Mike's sound was that it was not only clear, but thunderous. Mike's amp was really loud to my ears but it wasn't overbearing at all. I bet most of your everyday bass players would've sounded too boomy / muddy with the amp turned up that high but Mike's sound was perfectly balanced.

I also like Mike's tone, and that what I was going for when I ordered my Viceroy, and I got it.

My condolences! Seriously!

There is nothing quite so traumatic as getting that first scratch/ding/dent/mark on a new instrument, no matter what the instrument is. However, so much more significant when we're talking about a FODERA! Maybe you're right though, it's started its passage to greater things, and now that it's no longer a dent 'virgin', you won't have to worry about it QUITE so much...

+1. That sucks!

I must say that my E5S is a tank. I have (lightly) banged the headstock into various things (ceilings, walls, other basses...) and there is not even a scratch on it.

I take care of my gear, but the odd battle wound is gonna happen!

thanks, it was a gloomy day.

Dents have been good in past basses since they let me simply play the instrument without worrying about it, but i feel it will take longer with the Fodera. Scratches and dents on my fender... I dont even care about too much, but this time its different!

it's funny, cause every bass I've owned with nitro paint (several fenders and a couple Allevas) I've beat to hell and back and LOVED the way they look as the paint gets scratched away. Then I get my Imperial and I find myself wiping it down with a cloth every night before I go to bed! haha....all mental

Congrats and welcome to the TB boards!

I love my E5S and I can't see being without it even once my Monarch 5 arrives. Amazing basses! The only reason that the "Standard" name doesn't bug me for such a great MIA handmade bass is that a 1958-1960 Gibson Standard Les Paul is one of the most sought after guitars ever made. Good enough name for a $500,000 guitar, good enough for me!

What other basses and amps/cabs are you currently playing?

I run mostly Markbass equipment. Little Mark tube 800 into 151 Traveler cab. Love the sound and can't wait to hear the Emperor threw them.

Just spoke to the dealer I purchased from and the serial # I chose is already gone so I have confirmed with him that I am getting E5S74.

We like the name because it helps speak to what we are about -- maintaining REALLY, REALLY high STANDARDS!!

same here ;)

but I'm also starting to jump around on stage with my Viceroy because it's kicking that much :)

(it got it's first ding on the second day on the headstock and has 3 more by now ;) on the side and back of the body... this just happens when you play your Bass all the time and everywhere ;)

I too run mostly Markbass equipment. You're going to love the sound! The best description I've heard from a bandmate so far is that the combination is "quick, accurate, and present - but tasteful"! And that was from a drummer!

For us wine geeks, it's like breaking your first Reidel Sommelier Series glass from a box of 4 wine glasses. Until you broke the first one, you treated the glasses like a Ming Dynasty vase.... but after your first break.... meh... use the $100 (each) glasses to drink a jug of Gallo Hearty Burgundy.:hyper:
