Btw if exposed poles ever bother your finger tips, it takes 15 minutes to pull the pups out and add a spacer to make the poles flush. I used 1/16" foam tape, and installed it right where the pup meets the wood pup cover so there is no stress on the front of the finished part. Works great.
Nope... I went the other route of buying a Standard which evolved into a Deluxe... In hindsight I would have went straight to a deluxe.
I need some Fodera rehab..... No I don't, I need to start thinking of my next build. A shame on Fodera for building such fine instruments.

I will try the tape trick. Thx!
Nope. It seems many folks like me that buy a Standard first end up selling the Standard at a loss to buy a Custom. "Gateway drug" is a good Standard descriptor (TM/copywrited by nostatic)

That's crazy..I had the exact same thing happen with my Monarch. I ordered a set of PUP covers with no holes.
And I agree, I was this(use your imagination) close to ordering a standard, but fate led me to a custom..very happy with it!

Cool! I was hoping it would be helpful. At first I was going to have new covers made...but these are too nice.
So how then you are running your E5S most often?
- Active/Passive?
- Coil tap on (up position) or off (down position)?
- Either pickup favored via the pickup blend knob?

I mostly leave the EQ alone and dial tones with the blend and switches. Favorites are:
Neck pickup both coils passive - earthy rich and woody, super responsive.
Even blend both coils active - polished tight and a little nasal in that modern bass way - also great with some Himid added.
Blend behind center coils tapped, little Hi and Lo boost - slammin tight and bright 70s J style but tighter due to the neck pickup position.

I always run my E5S in active DC mode with the bridge PU favoured just a bit.
My dual mids are generally flat unless the room calls for it and then I may boost my high mids a bit. Bass and treble are flat or slightly boosted.

I've lingered over that bass, but I'm on the wagon for now. Especially since I have one showing up soon anyway
Do you guys find a difference in the way the singlecuts balance on a strap depending up the sweep of the upper bout and how it positions the upper strap button relative to the rest of the body? For example, the Emperor shape vs. the Imperial shape? Curious to get thoughts on how the two "feel" different on a strap. Thanks!
