Finally got a chance to play it for a good hour or so acoustically tonight (staying at yet another hotel). I love the playability of the bass and I prefer the set neck Deluxe to the neck thru or bolt on. To each their own, but it just feels perfect for me.
Also, the ramp is very cool. First time I really spent time with a high end bass with a ramp. I am instantly a ramp guy.
Lastly, my bass weighs under 9.5lbs which is perfect. It actually feels lighter.
Man that is just incredible. Congratulations on the new addition. Somehow a custom no. 3 will work itself in there with the
sale of the E5S. The standard top doesn't look standard to me. Looks fantastic. Enjoy and play the snot out of it.
I added a ramp to my custom Monarch about 6 weeks ago. Can't imagine ever playing without it. It's changed my playing THAT much. Enjoy the bass AND the ramp.
I can be wrong, but that walnut top is not a standard top, but rather the non option top for a custom bass. Not that there's anything wrong with the tops on a standard. This is a walnut top from a standard

My Emperor5 weighs exactly 10lbs on the nose and feels heavy when I carry it around but I don't notice when I am playing. Foderas are so well balanced that they feel lighter than there are.
Been toying with getting a ramp (especially since now Joey is Mr. Ramp Guy) but haven't committed yet. Also I love the wood grain on mine so much don't know if I want to cover any of it.

As far as a 3rd custom... I currently have a 2 custom policy in place according to my wife. If I sell the E5S it will pay for a fretless of some kind and part of my 2nd custom most likely.

Maybe its my browser. All I see are the NAMM basses and the Katalox Monarch 6. Even when I go to the Feb 14 archives, all I see is the Katalox.

I absolutely love this bass and Jason, Joey and Vinnie really make customers feel like family. I honestly can't see myself playing anything other than Fodera for the foreseeable future.
P.S. I also locked in my 2nd Monarch Deluxe specs today. I think I have a sickness.I will very likely be selling my E5S very soon if anyone is looking for a mint one.

FWIW, I had my ramp made, by the guys at Fodera, out of a beautiful piece of walnut that matches the top wood and looks spectacular on the bass and, not only does it not take away, but, rather, it enhances the look.
Yeah, a better way of asking would have been the no up charge top. The standard top the the MS fretless is pretty as well, but the difference is obvious.
I believe the first MS fretless had almost the exact same top as mine. Definitely close and most likely from the same tree. I just loved the look and would have paid a bit more if I had to.
I love the maple top on my E5S but wanted something different. My second Custom will be spalted mango (light colour) and walnut (dark). It It will have a red oak neck but the fretboard will also ebony. After looking at dozens of maple fretboards (what I really wanted), Jason and I couldn't find anything that would look good with the yellowish mango top. The oak and walnut should offer a big contrast to my new walnut/mahogany Monarch in any case.

2 DCs and a 8 coil in the middle?
I gotta admit, I like the look of most basses without the ramp but man I really like playing with one. I don't see adding a ramp to my 1972 Jazz any time soon, but any Fodera I have will have one.

I usually get " ...I never seen three pickups in row like that... ". To which I reply "yes...it is unusual..."
Did you guys see this unusual Fodera in the classifieds? Getting lots of admiration. ( not affiliated with seller). Never seen one like this before.
