Fodera Club Part XXVI

Do you guys find a difference in the way the singlecuts balance on a strap depending up the sweep of the upper bout and how it positions the upper strap button relative to the rest of the body? For example, the Emperor shape vs. the Imperial shape? Curious to get thoughts on how the two "feel" different on a strap. Thanks!

To anyone who responds, would you mind shedding some light on your experience with the various single cut's balance while sitting down, while you're at it?

As much as I'd love a Yin Yang Deluxe I just don't think I; a) can justify spending that amount of money and b) have that amount of money to spend in the next 10 years and I'm impatient like that!

I have one custom bass on order but when that arrives I think I see myself buying a Standard!

Such a good looking bass. Its no custom, but here are a few better pictures of my Monarch 4 Standard.

Nice bass!

I played a fretless Monarch Standard at the Fodera shop earlier this week and the neck is absolutely killer. I thought my 1972 Jazz had the best 4 string neck ever, but now I am unsure about that.

I have only had a custom for a few days so I am far from an expert, but I still really love my E5S. The custom is a better bass, but it is not a night and day comparison. More aesthetics than anything else. In fact, I was going to list it for sale today, but I am going to try stringing it E-C tonight and just may keep it.

Yeah , I have never played the fretless but I used to have YYS and then they announced the Monarch "Special" run and I became very interested - I like Rosewood and the classic 60's vibe the Special's other specs put out - plus I love the cedar top (not a huge flame guy).

I'd really love to get my hands on a custom, when I do, actually, it will probably be pretty aesthetically similar to yours. I'm trying to figure out how to finance a 5 string bolt on, 17.5 mm spacing, walnut body/ebony board with a ramp, probably won't have any money to get an upgraded top so I'll be looking at walnut (I hope whatever i end up with is half as good looking as yours!). Enjoy the heck out of it, and congratulations again.

I really love having a C string, and I'm starting to realize that I would be perfectly happy with a 5 string E-C instead of an actual 6. Ya live and you learn.

No significant difference between all models on the strap, except of the Presentation, which has no shaping at all.

Sitting down they all balance well, but for me the MG model lacks some comfort here. Due to the rounder lower horn it always feels like it needs some support from my left hand to sit fixed on the leg.
