as i've said in the past, imho, the pickups/electronics are the least important things on a fodera.

Trouble by the Toe was a fav - some crazy stuff going on. Reminds me of later Mingus. Support the arts, buy the album!

And the low B on the 12-string truly is the Voice_of_God...

Much fun at Fodera Live event in Brooklyn last night. Much rockin' Fodera basses (and guitars!).
Instead of taking pictures of the event like a normal person I decided to do all selfies. Men of a certain age should not take selfies but I did anyway. Some of the worst photos ever taken! These are the few folks I was able to corner (all others managed to give me the slip!).
With Reggie Young and Fodera's Jordan Cortese.
With the always most fun Nick Epifani. Notice we are both talking even as the picture is being taken!
With Chris Jisi and Joey Lauricella.

One of the highlights of the evening was Andy Cichon on vocals and guitar rockin' out on "Too Hot to Handle" with Joey's band Blues Ball. Not so surprising when you consider this (that's him on lead vocals and guitar). Andy, If you see this please forgive me! Almost the same but with less hair!

I was surprised how much I liked the lap steel as part of the ensemble. It provides an attack and tone that is pretty unique, and it was used to good effect.

doesn't hurt that he's a kickass musician. used to be a trombone player. was really good and then dumped that and got really good on this.

I was there but had to cut out before Reggie hit the stage. Amazing event last night...I'll post some pics tomorrow

hi guys,

any advice on cleaning fodera gold hardware (bridge / tuners)? i remember from other basses i have owned that it could be a bit tricky (peel off / discolourations) and i dont want to risk to ruin my fodera...

Hello everyone. I'm looking into foderas and can't seem to find a lot of information on the nut widths... I saw that one standard 4 was at 1.53 inches and a standard five was at 1.83inches. But are the nut widths customizable? For example, If i wanted to have a custom six string with 16.5mm spacing and a 33inch scale, what would be the nut width they typically use? And could I have it changed to to something like 54mm?

I appreciate any info you guys can offer.

They will build to your specs. I have two Fodera 5 strings. One has more of a J bass profile neck. The other is more of a P bass profile. I haven't measured the nut width but they are not the same.

So I got a new (to me) Fodera Imperial recently and had said I thought about sending it back to Fodera to have it routed for dual coils but like the sound of the single coils in it. I prefer the look of the dual coils though as I think the singles just look a bit small to me. Then I thought I might have it routed for dual coils anyway and have the single coils fitted inside the dual coil covers. In the end for now I thought I'd save myself the hassle and get some ebony strips made like Richard Bona has on his bass. I know his serve a purpose to cover holes from different pickups but mine are purely for aesthetics! They might still need a little tweaking but I like how they turned out. Here's a before and after pic.

Yes I think Ryan Owens who had it built based it on Mikes old bass with just a few differences. I actually just missed out on buying that bass off Mike when he was selling it. Gutted!

Both my 16.5 and 33 scale's are 47 mm at the nut I believe. If it's a custom you can tell Fodera what you want

That's fairly representative, but different woods and different players change the sound somewhat.

On a semi-related note, I have one of the new Monarch Standard 5s heading my way. My 6-string experimentation has been reminding me of the utility of a low B-string, but I can't really play a 10.5 lb bass standing at gigs (and for some gigs, don't necessarily need the C). Finally have a spec that is close to what I typically like (Monarch body, ebony fingerboard, mahogany body, black hardware), and I found one that is 9.5 lbs. Should be here next week. Helps that there is a sale on in-stock Foderas at some places

Just wanted to post this here for all my Fodera brothers. I've been stoked to receive this new custom and it's amazing. Monarch 5 holly top with purpleheart headstock (Jason's suggestion which turned out beautiful).
You really can't beat the Fodera family. Best in the world at what they do imho and great people too! Blessings
