I played one gig last weekend at a winery. We had to wear masks unless we were singing. It was so good to be playing again. Unfortunately a storm came in about 45 minutes into our first set and we were unable to play the rest of the event.

sadly, no. I had my first gig booked up in Lompoc for Memorial Day weekend cancelled, as well as some large summer gigs for Steely Jam in San Diego and LA. All the local farmers markets, which were my regular beat cancelled live music back in March. Currently LA is going in the wrong direction, so I don't anticipate being able to play a live gig until 2021.
On a positive note, the movers came today, I'm getting the home studio back online, and we'll be officially not living in LA as of end of Aug - and I won't be paying rent and mortgage at the same time for the first time this year.
Yes, but it is a little concerning. A lot of places aren't following the rules, and some in Ocean City, MD have been shut down for not following the rules. A huge club in OC had a big indoor show 2 weeks ago, shut down shortly after for positive tests, and the owner passed away this weekend. It's great to be back playing, but be careful! I don't want to buy a Fodera from someone's estate sale.
nope. cancelled a mess of stuff, like everyone else. don't expect to do any live playing until next year.

I'd start with a set up , including a check of how high the pick ups are.
That goes for any bass from any builder.
it just started that way.
in 85, i met joey at l.a. namm. they had a aj6 with a dark top (maybe brazilian rosewood?). i tried it and loved it (i'd been thinking about a 6-string and they checked all the boxes).
anyway, i called them and asked them about that bass, which as already sold. i asked about getting one, asked if they did ash bodies. they said walnut with a zebra top. i'd never heard about zebra. i figured they knew what they were doing. two months (!) later i had the bass.
since i tend to like my basses to be pretty much the same, i went with walnut/zebra for a certain thing (i also have maple/mahogany).
so no real reason . . . just a bit of my ocd-ish mindset.
I felt the same way, but I finally settled on a Yin Yang Standard in Mahogany. I'm ordering it straight from the factory! My 1st Fodera!
The great thing about the Yin Yang is that you could get the P/J layout (EMG) and it has a active/passive switch. It's possible that Fodera would install something besides EMGs. Personally, I'm getting the Dual Coils, but I'm a Jazz Bass guy.
Best thing about the Yin Yang is you get the warmth of a mahogany body, with the snappiness of an ebony fingerboard.
You can always ask them if the could slip in Aguilars and a passive rig and save the fancy preamp for my bass . . . . .

When the time comes close I'll definitely open up a conversation with them. I'm waiting for my new Marleaux Votan 5 to come in, then will probably be shifting a couple of other basses to fund the Fodera (want to slim my collection down to 5 basses) so ordering is at least 6 months away. In the meantime I'll be happy with the other stuff I've got
Sure, almost back in normal amount of gigs, 2-3 per week. Although the crowd is limited to max 50 people, so the money isn´t that great, but enough for my survival. Which is good because I don´t have ay other job...
If you're going to swap pickups, remember that the EMGs are active, so the pre-amp is configured to route power to the pickups. Swapping pickups might require a wiring change and an update to your preamp settings.
