Yeah I'd only trust a top-level luthier or the shop itself for that kind of job, if not the original shop itself. Resale value would also take a pretty big knock. I kicked around the idea of defretting my '99 Warwick Thumb 6 but eventually decided against it, even though I have no intention of selling it... it will always be less than ideal - I mean, I figure there's a reason their fretless models have an ebony fingerboard as opposed to the wenge of the fretted ones, amongst other things.

Best bet IMO is a swap deal, or even a trade in like above.

Haha TRUE. Although honestly, easiest of all might be to just keep em all and cop a Sire off the verb since I don't really HAVE to play fretless w my band. I'll give it a week or two and see if anybody's like "Hey I have this perfect unused standard, but I don't like touching ebony and I just HATE figured walnut - let's swap." :roflmao:

Hey why not! I scored a literally brand-new (as in still unopened original packaging) Phil Jones C4 cabinet of Reverb for stupid, stupid cheap (like, 35-40% of the normal retail price), so anything is possible.

Lol I just played it for like an hour. It's so freaking good. Decided to mark it unavailable while I research potentially having it professionally de-fretted at the shop (or just leaving it be and saving for a dif fretless, because OMG IT'S SO FREAKING GOOD.)
