Anybody know who was building the preamp for the Standard Series before they rolled out the Trickfish "upgrade?" I love the original, personally...

Awesome collection! Do the six strings sound very different to each other? Obviously the Bartolinis in the Contrabass will sound different to the Duncans, but is there much difference between the Imperial and the Emperor II?I'm in love with these butterflies.

I just replaced my 2024 Monarch custom preamp with the Trickish and I was able to play it last night for the first time at my Church and I can say the bass sound is just outstanding. No sound sample until Sunday. As to how easy it is to replace the preamp, it is easy, just be careful about the ground cable it can easily come off from the weld.

Tell me about, what is the big difference to you? On the dynamics or low mid highs? Less noise is ok but the colour of the EQ is some new? Or totally different?

This is hard to answer as everyone if subjective of what we think of the sound, but I can tell you from what I hear, it does have a lot more dynamics, it has less noise, no color on the sound its very clean. A little story about why I love this preamp. My bass was completed in 2024, and it had the last version of the Fodera preamp prior moving to the Fodera/Trickfish preamp. I really didn't like that preamp as much as the old Fodera Preamp. Fodera told me was the same preamp with new changes, however I felt the sound was different in my own opinion, I could be wrong. I contacted Fodera to see if they had an old preamp around that I could buy, unfortunately they didn't. After I received the bass, I hardly played the Monarch because I wasn't into the sound. My bass is made of ash body, spalted maple top and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. After I installed the Fodera/Trickfish preap I have been like a kid with a new toy. I am now finally enjoying the Fodera, the sound is just so good. I hope this helps I hope other folks can elaborate a little more.

My Fodera is from 2008 and has the second version of the custom-shop Mike Pope preamp. I love how it sounds so, while a number of years ago I did speak with Mike Bendy about swapping it out for the third version, I opted to keep it. No need to "upgrade" if I like what I've got. But your story, Otto, is a good example of when "upgrading" makes sense.

I don't think they are selling it. Or, might be one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" situations.
My guess? If it were appraised, it would have to be in the $70k to $80k range, right?

Hi all, I'm tentatively considering trading my Buckeye MG5. It's a very special bass that I'm sure most Fodera fans remember from their earliest websites. There's a very famous pic (that I can't seem to lay hands on at the moment) of Vinny holding it. It's the bass that most consider the first ever Buckeye.
It's a 35" and I'm considering trading for a 34" SIMILAR Fodera. I don't want to sell it and I don't want anything less ornate nor special -- If that makes sense. It's literally flawless with the exception of the tiniest bit of wear on the corner of the bridge. This is a true showroom piece.
Just throwing it out there. And if anyone has the photo I'm thinking of, please share it! Thanks so much.

Thanks! It's 19mm with the good Fodera bridge with the saddle locks. The body is Alder with an Ebony fingerboard, and an Alder tone block.
