Knowing that Fodera use maple as well as ash for their necks, I was wondering if anyone could describe the difference in terms of tone between the two.

I recently asked Vinny that. This was his answer...

"I use a Midwestern hard ash (not as hard and dense as Northern White Ash). The ash neck gives a slightly warmer tone than a hard maple neck. More open resonance, slightly warmer – not as compact and tight sounding."

Hope that helps....

Thank you!

now...does anyone have two "identical" basses except for one having a maple and the other having an ash neck...and could that someone post soundclips with the exact same settings ??? :D:hiding:
well, worth a try, no?

Hi Guy's
Just saw an emperor 5-string with a 4 knob Pré-amp instead of the usual one with the 2 big and 3 smaller knobs.
Anyone knows what Preamp this is?
The owner says it's a Fodera pré amp but I cant find anything about it on the web...

Sounds like an older 2-band preamp. Volume, Blend, Treble and Bass...

I just want to say that I'm still in the club. Possibly more so than before because I just picked this up. Haven't had a chance to grab more definitive photos, but it's completely amazing:
