Here is my latest Fodera purchase...
NYC with swamp ash body, spalted maple top and birdseye board. It plays like a dream and sounds AWESOME! I already have a number from my Emperor. So, no need for another. :)

There is MUCH more to the story behind this bass that you can find here:

In the meantime, enjoy the pics: :bassist:

the NYC fodera is really gorgeous!
I really like the yin yang too, (it's basically a monarch with a less large headstock).
I was disapointed with the first fodera I used to have, but the monarch I got now is simply the best bass I ever owned.
To me monarchs are simply the best 4 string ever!!!

Beautiful NYC and great job on the top repair!

You guys should check out the new NYC's. The Fender vibe is happening!

That's the nicest NYC I have ever laid eyes on. Stunning.

Thanks...it is quite impressive. I was not sure I was even going to bother getting it once it was damaged...Until I took it and plugged it in and played it. It is the best playing and sounding NYC I have seen as well. It actually plays better than the Emperor I had. The sound is quite articulate but still with a lot of balls. I like it! :hyper:

The new NYC's they are doing are nothing short of extraordinary. They sound great, play great, look great. IMHO, they are every bit as good as almost every other companies' top custom products. The only sad thing is that due to public misconceptions they are in the shadow of Vinny and Joey's own custom masterpieces. But really, if all you ever played was a new Fodera NYC (not the older ones while they were working out the design kinks) and didn't know their other stuff existed, you'd be blown away and think they were among the best bass makers on the planet....

Dude, that is by far the best looking NYC I've laid my eyes upon. Congrats!

Makes me a lot more curious about them.

p.s- just read the Story on the amazing repair job! Yet another mess well done by UPS..

Hey guys. I just got off the phone with Joey and am placing a new order. Yes, I know it will be about 2 years before I get the bass. I am fine with that. Anyway. Here are the specs.

-Emperor 5
-35" scale 24 fret bolt-on
-Ash Body, Maple neck, Ebony Fretboard (no face dots)
-Koa Top
-Small frets
-Duncan Dual Coils (Tom Kennedy spacing)
-Gold Hardware

I went out to the NAMM show in 2007 with Fodera and I played a Tom Kennedy model that was there and I just fell in love with the tone. Very growly and big sounding. So, I worked out with Joey the specs of this bass to suit my needs/wants and this is what we came up with. Anyway. I just thought I would share this with the crowd.

I think it will look a little unique with that spacing on an Emperor body, but I am going after the tone. Once I have pics of the tops to choose from, I will gladly share.

Peace,
Chris

I just acquired a VW Monarch 4 Classic:hyper:. Unfortunately, my camera just broke and I can't put up a good picture until the new one arrives. Here's the headstock, signed by Victor:

I really like this bass!

Congrats on your new acquisition!!!
I also have a vw monarch classic 4 (which is in fact a monarch deluxe but it just happen that the specs are the same as Victor's bass) and it's the best 4 srting I've ever had (the easiest playing too!!!).
