It's a picture from the reunion show Mudvayne just played. There is a video on youtube, definitely not photoshopped.

A: Two things can be true at once... He could have played the bass at the show and it could be photoshopped.
B: I am not saying it is photoshopped... my point is that the bass is so large it looks photoshopped.

Yeah, as a long time Warwick fan (previous owner of an 89 fretless thumb and a 91 dolphin, with Barts ) it surprised the shxt out of me to see him with the Foderas. Even weirder, as a long time Mudvayne Fan, I've been following the reunion and Warwick/Framus was actually promoting it in the beginning. Never met Ryan but have talk to people who know him and I know that the relationship was a big one for both of them. They must've had a pretty serious falling out

it's also weird too because Fodera is such an exclusive type of brand. Even most serious players aren't gonna be ready to drop $10,000 on a bass! I wonder if they want to do what Warren did and start making more accessible/less expensive basses?
Anyway, glad to see Mudvayne back briefly, hopefully Chad (the singer) will get his poopie together and the next performance will be a lot more solid. We definitely check out Soften the Glare if they ever make it out to the west coast!

LOL! True, but it's a little more than that… Ryan was one of the prominent artist and definitely brought a lot of attention to the company. When they released the Vampyre for example, he was one of the primary artist that they featured with it to bring attention to the new model. So if you're a fan of either Ryan or the company, this is pretty surprising...

Ryan is a great guy. Fantastic player, Me and my mates got to hang out with him at the Frankfurt Musik Messe in 2012 (I think?), he showed us some great tricks on bass (mainly his weird tapping technique) and we also got to hang out in the evening at the Warwick party… a really fun dude.

Ryan doesn't strike me as a very huge guy (very fit though!). The Thumb body is very tiny and it appears to fit him nicely. So I bet the moment he straps on a "standard" sized bass, it looks big by comparison.

I could see Fodera moving into a few different genres and expanding artists. For example sponsoring a well known rock artist to play the emperor standard j.

I'm starting to wonder what's going on with Warwick. Their promotion has fallen off quite a bit over the past several years, and their distribution is much weaker. Here in Canada, their distribution is virtually non-existent. When I bought my Alien 6 I had to order it directly from Germany, which was a huge pain and something I will never do again.

No doubt, but that is a custom… In the SF Bay area a Warwick can be had for about $2K, particular one of the bolts ons; i'm just saying that the fedora's are super expensive Basses and tend not to be for a casual or even semi pro who are likely to be most of your buyers as a manufacturer

for real! It really is the Bentley of Basses! Lol! I mean I love Victor Wooten and his signature Fodera looks amazing but I can't imagine dropping that kind of money on one, even if I had it! Lol! Very curious as to where this will go…

I'm always looking for an excuse to share this video as it's one of my favorite things that has ever existed.

Amos Williams from Tesseract is another great metal guy who plays/played a Thumb. He since had a signature Kiesel and now has some sort of Ibanez.

As others have pointed out, it's not that it's confusing, it's just surprising. Ryan is probably the most iconic Warwick signature artist, so much so that when I think of what the Warwick "sound" is Ryan is the first example that comes to mind. It's just surprising to see, it's like seeing Wooten leave Fodera, just an iconic pairing with a long history.

The Thumb is an ergonomic nightmare. He probably wanted something that would balance better and retain the tone he's always relied upon. That and if you're going to spend Fodera money you might as well go for a Fodera. The bass is really a Foderwick/Wardera, similar woods including the bubinga inlay on the body.

Who said he left Warwick? Most endorsements are non exclusive. Robert Trujillo and Lee Sklar endorse Warwick but play other basses, too.
