For you married men......

A guitar playing friend of mine doesn't wear a ring at all, he instead had it tatooed onto his ring finger. Not for me, but I see the logic in it.
 
My wife and I haven't worn our rings in years, neither one of us likes jewelry on our hands. And I have yet to have the problem of a rig or lack thereof attracting any women at gigs (I just tell myself it's because I play bass, yeah, that must be it!), so I guess I'll cross that bridge if it ever happened.
 
I always wear mine (left hand ring finger). It's never gotten in my way... but if it bothers you, don't wear it.

I know you can't just say this to her because it won't help, but your wife is being ridiculous to think you take your ring off to try to pick up women. If she doesn't trust you that is the more serious issue...
