For you married men......

Tell her you don't want this happening to your bass

Also let her know it's kinda hard to pick up chicks at the bar where you are at WITH YOUR LEAD SINGER WIFE.

I have to take it off when flying (military pilot). Otherwise it is on. Sometimes it does clank the neck, but I only notice it at practice volumes. Honestly, it bugs me more when I'm not wearing it.

I do take off my watch when playing. I'm a pilot, so that thing weighs like five pounds.:)

Not a guy, but... I just automatically switch my wedding ring to my right hand when I'm playing. My wife doesn't mind when I do that, but pretty sure she'd not be happy if I took it off altogether ;)

I'm left-handed and it still gets in the way. I take it off for our set every show, during every practice, and while recording. My wife isn't a fan of tradition and wouldn't be bothered if I never wore it.
The only problem I see is losing it somewhere on stage during the set change rush. For a moment I thought this happened at our Friday show (and worried a bit because it was my Grandfather's wedding ring), but it was in a deep corner of my pocket. So for last night's show I didn't wear it at all. I had a rough set in front of a full room, so it's obviously some hippie fire goddess punishing me for not wearing it while the wife is out-of-town.

Mine's big and clacky on the fretboard. It fits my right pinky, though, and doesn't interfere with plucking, so I just wear it there when I'm playing. My wife's only issue is she has always been wary of guys who wear pinky rings.

The old wedding tale that there is a vein that goes from the left ring finger to the heart is true. It just ignores the fact that ALL veins go back to the heart. That's what they do.

OP said his wife teases him rather than really being wigged about it; seems to me he's just checking to see if he's the only one who finds it a hindrance, and he's not.

A spouse that is truly offended has little faith in the relationship, which says more about the relationship than where the ring is.
