My son is an accomplished drummer. Started when he was 5 as well.
He grew up in our rehearsal room and was almost immediately attracted to the drum kit. Our drummer encouraged his fascination so he's at least partially to blame!
If he sticks with them, you'll have to get a van to haul his gear around..
