Forgotten 70's Rock Bands

Fanny, grossly under-rated and under-remembered band. Real rock 'n' roll music.

So I ran across this band in a documentary today and immediately thought of this thread. Wow, what a fantastic group these gals were.

The Tubes, who were bringing you live music video concepts onstage before the TV format devolved into self-parody. Some great songs from their A&M 70's heyday include "What Do You Want From Life," "Turn Me On," "Mondo Bondage," "Smoke (La Vie En Fumer)," and the immortal, "White Punks On Dope."

Honorable mention to the early incarnations of Todd Rundgren's Utopia, as well.

I remember laughing out loud at the cover of "Completion Backward Principle" when it came out and nobody knew what was so funny about a group of middle aged executives making a record. They had no idea what the band was like before.

I would go with Stillwater, live they were really great with the triple lead guitars. "Mindbender" was a excellent song.

I liked "Out On A Limb" better. The last note of the guitar solo.

There was a lot of bands back in the 70s. Only a few artists continue to sell out concerts today. Perhaps that because their avg age is pushing EIGHTY YEARS old. But you can bet, their music is still played by countless masses who pickup the guitar, and cover bands today, and for generations to come.
