Formica, wallpaper, and other kitschy tops

Those are cool as hell. The burst edges takes care of the transition around the body perimeter nicely. I was wondering how people dealt with that edge, is the fabric edge just buried in clearcoat? My naugehyde nightmare had binding to hold the edges.

If you’re asking me then the simple answer is, yes. Glue on the fabric, trim to shape, fill until the “grain” of the fabric is filled and you can level sand then paint the burst, clear coat, buff, polish and the final step in any Ferengi plan, profit!

Being that 'someone' -- many people think it was wall paper but was actually a product called "Cling-Foil": aluminum adhesive decorative foil. Some did develop cracks while others survived without issue. Good detailed info here which shows unused examples as well: Fender's Summer of Love

Man, that takes me back. Just like the kitchen table my Grandma had when I was small enough to climb on it.
