Found a cool old bassist, need some help?

Andre contacted me as well; I have recently gone through a similar, but different situation. The only thing I can say is that I hope and pray that Butch is as eager to accept the outpouring of love he has coming at him. I'd hate to think this is all in vain, and I truly hope this has the happy ending that I think it might...it's not in our hands at this point, it is in Butch's hands. I hope Butch gets to sign on here and update us as well, that'd be pretty cool, especially if the feelings are reciprocated. Situations often tear apart families, and most of them come back together in the end. Some quick, some not-so-quick. There will likely be some adjustment time needed, there was with my situation.

In any case, Butch has a bass coming to him, and hopefully he will have a family reunion to attend to as well. I know that this is a deeply emotional and personal time, and I think that Andre will update us all in good time. In the meantime, Butch, Andre, good luck to you, and you know where to find me if you need someone to talk to.

Sorry for the wait guys, unlike most, I work 7 days a week and I don't always get to use a computer while cooking in a kitchen.

I left work to go to a wake, and I got a text from my boss saying that Art was at the restaurant. I got down here and gave him his bass and told him everything, and he was blown away and looked like he was going to cry. I told him that I was going to wait until everything came in before I gave it to him but it was mitigating circumstances and he was truely touched. I told him it got weirder and I told him about the donations and about his brother, and he was simply flabbergasted. Art just left here, to go home so he can get on for a catering gig. He's coming back Friday with his bass to come jam here, so I'll get someone to take some pictures then, as I don't own a camera.

Just finished reading the entire thread. How incredible! I too am a skeptic, but I can't remain skeptical after all this. I hope we get to hear good news, see some footage or photos. Aroha nui - much love. Kia kaha - be strong. And above all, awesome work for helping a parata, a brother.

I am pretty new to this forum but wanted to chime in on this epic thread.

In all of my years on the internet and on internet forums this is by far the coolest and most touching, emotional thread that I have ever had the pleasure to read. I hope that this all ends as well as we are all pulling for.

This is such a special set of circumstances. Such a generous act by the original poster has turned into so much more than anyone could have imagined. Kind acts truly are infectious and can spawn amazing things.

I think you have captured the central point of all of this, especially with your last sentence. Society itself could be radically transformed with kind acts. That is not a maudlin assumption, but the truth.

It *could* be but, sadly, probably won't.

However, I think it safe to say that virtually all of us following this have been uplifted by the turn of events - irrespective of personal credo. So despite what I just said, I say this...

Spread the wealth people, just spread the wealth.

Doesn't matter if it's as simple an act as holding the door open for someone, or letting the person behind you jump the queue in the supermarket cause they've got two items & you've done the weekly shop, just keep the ball rolling.

Throw the good stuff out there whenever you get a chance. It will make a difference, and it will come back to you or someone you love one day.
