I agree. I have an Axe fx II for many years. I love most effects in the Axe fx but it is missing an envelope filter block. You can make your own with the wah or filter block but to me it doesn’t sound as a good as a real pedal. I have tried quite a bit.
Does anyone here have some good settings for emulation a bass wah like the Dunlop 105Q for example? I tried this week to emulate this pedal but couldn’t quite get it.
That’s what I do also. Sounds better than the octave divider in the pitch block to me. That one sounds too muffled for me. It could benefit for a low cut ‘knob’ in the algo, but there is no low cut. You can add a filter block after it though.
I'd been hot for the Quad Cortex right about when Covid hit. Since then, we've learned that the QC needs to mature a tad in some areas, and then FAS came out with the FM9.
Though I've been a critic of FAS bass support, the FM9 configuration is really appealing, and the only thing preventing me from jumping on board is financial uncertainty since I really don't need that much power. It does look and sound great, though.

I had the QC on loan from a friend for a week. Didn’t dive in really deep but my first impression was that I liked my Axe fx II more. Especially the effects. I use it for guitar and bass.
I had the AxeFxII when it first came out and used it for a couple years. When our guitarist's rig crapped out on him, I offered to sell it to him and help him program a bunch of presets. He took me up on the offer, of course, and it's been working exceptionally well for him for 6+ years. And that's with fairly old firmware.
Since I've been off Fractal, they've made a lot of improvements and additions to the compressors, speaker block, and the new amp modeling algorithm. Enough where some of my previous frustrations might be diminished, and the footswitching programming on the FM9 would be more than enough to cover my performance needs.
I bought a FM3 2 months ago. I intend to use it for guitar and bass but so far have only tried it on bass. It works very well out of the box for bass with a simple profile (e.g. comp, amp, cab). Better than I expected. I then got the Austin Buddy bass preset package. Now there are some stellar tones in there. If you study the grid layout of the Austin Buddy profiles you can have a great tutorial on programming the FM3. The icing on the cake was adding the Bergantino/Celestion IR package. I use berg cabs on amped gigs and the IRs really gave the FM3 the sound I have come to prefer.
I have decided to get rid of my pedals etc as the FM3 has everything covered in a programable way. I will still use my Bergantino rig when required with or without the FM3 depending on how many different sounds I need.
The only downside is the learning curve. It is not onerous but it does require some focused reading and work. The FM3 edit app makes it easier to get set up and create presets, scenes, channels etc.
I hope other bass players adopt the Fractal platform and share their know how here on TB.

My question is: what IRs do you all like for bass? I tend to play driven sounds, and I’m finding the stock cabs a bit dark. I like a coloured speaker, but also solid low end. I often feel like bass IR are a little “static” feeling vs real cabs, or just using a low pass filter.
I’ve been experimenting with the “experimental” IRs here: Shift Line Bass IR Pack where they take a guitar cab and then add a uniform low end response below 1000hz.

Dr. Bonkers has some excellent IRs, a lot of cabinets that you don't see a lot of. Very reasonbly priced.
There are many great aftermarket IRs that can help get you the sound you’re after, however I would first consider the following.
Run your driven tone in parallel. You can then use a high pass filter to sculpt the tone to taste. Guitar cabs can also be a good choice for this method since your low end comes from the other part of the parallel chain.
Use a drive pedal in front of the amp and eq to taste.
Many classic and modern bass tones use these methods. In my experience the stock cabs will work just fine when using this method.
I personally use the SV 1x15 M88. I run the FAS bass amp with high pass around 80hz. For my cab block I use the 1x15 with high pass around 200hz and I run the “totally flat” ir without highpass.

Thanks. Are you suggesting a driven tone in parallel with a clean tone, or are you suggesting two driven tones in parallel? I do the latter sometimes, almost never the former. I know that that's a common suggestion for bass tone and a common solution for recording engineers, just not how I like to do it.
I think either can be useful depending on what your going for.
