FRAMUS Nashville

Framus resumed production of new models a couple years ago. If you look on their site: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] you can see they have a guitar called the Tennessee that looks similar... but no basses at all on the site, so they must have given up on us last year. :hmm:

You have a very nice Framus Nashville Standard De Luxe with 4 way rotary probably from 76, they also made an unbound Standard. These are part of the highly sought after range designed by Chet Atkins along with Hans Peter Wilfer and Bill Lawrence, I'm Jealous,

I have two Framus Nashville basses right here at home. Both are the plain Standard model (dot markers, no binding). The first, which I bought new in '75, now has Barts (still have the Lawrence-designed pups and weird wiring harness stowed away). The other was a near-wreck that I salvaged and had converted into an 8-string, although it currently lacks electronics. The tuners on both wore out, but mini-Schallers are a good fit.

The body is semi-solid and made of larch - not a very common wood in luthiery, AFAIK. There is a narrow seam of contrasting wood around the rim where the top and bottom are joined sandwich-style. The set neck is two-piece maple, with a third piece glued on to make the angled headstock, and the fretboard is rosewood. They are well-constructed, quality basses, among the best Framus ever made. Yours appears to be all original and in excellent condition.

Thanks for the info. I think that it is a very cool bass, I won it and a Peavey Microbass as a package on Ebay for $290.
