Plenty of used Carvin 5ers can be found for under a grand. Great American made basses that happen to have awful resale value.

Just snagged this LB76PF off Ebay for $599 shipped..

Spec'd the same bass out on the Carvin website and it would run $1,408 new..
 
Alder black satin body, unlined ebony fretless fingerboard, 34", 24 frets

Bought for new last week for €. 400,00
($. 520.00) coupled it with a Warwick WA300 head (adviced by Mr. Andy Irvine in person:)) payed €. 300,00 ($. 400.00)
This setup it's gonna induct me into the magic world of fretless bass playin' (in thrash metal)
I'm very excited
