I grew up about 50 miles from the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana. Every household had dozens of those tins lying round, usually used for mixed screws and nuts in the garage.

I've never got the fruitcake jokes; I guess Yankees must not have access to good fruitcake. It's like the grits jokes - if you've had lousy grits, it doesn't mean grits are bad, it just means you had bad grits.
