Funky NATO names for Soviet aircraft

XF-85 Goblin parasite fighter- meant to be carried aboard a B-36 as a roving defensive weapon.

...see, I KNEW you'd get it once you saw it! :D

Weird idea, weird plane, did NOT work well at all. Bad idea from the start - meant that ONE B-36 would have to have no bomb load, because the entire carrying capacity of the aircraft was eaten up by the F-85....and that's just to get ONE fighter on the mission.

The crazy things folks were thinking up in the 50's!

Prettiest airplane ever made is a tie between the Spit and a Mosquito, IMO.
