Funky NATO names for Soviet aircraft

I saw that post and wondered why you only had two aircraft when you said 'trio'! For whatever reason I'm only getting two pics (Spitfire and Fury variants?) and no Gannet!
Well,as long as the world knows we love the occasional fat, 50's ASW turboprop. I'm good.

Yup- the Grumman XF5F. Later models had a more *normal* nose that extended past the leading edge of the wing; IIRC it was later equipped w/an even longer nose & tricycle landing gear. Another beautiful aircraft that did not make it into production, it was used as the mount for a comic-book hero(again- IIRC)...

Edit: A highly-developed variant of the Focke-Wulf FW-190, the TA-152 was intended as a high-altitude interceptor, aimed at stemming the tide of allied bombing. Operationally it was used as top cover for Me-262s on landing approach, when the sluggish spoolup of the early jet engines rendered them vulnerable to prowling Mustangs of the 8th AF.

Here's one I took myself. It's on approach to NAS North Island. Those big black hot dogs are barriers around the Submarine Base on Point Loma.
You got it. I think that one is privately owned. They move heavy cargo with it. It's bigger than a C-5A, But not nearly as big as an AN-225.
