Funny how things work out...

Well, in January, I decided to get my self a bass. This bass is by far and away THE best fretless I have ever played in my 8 years of playing bass, and also, it was the easiest buy I have ever made. What is this bass? A cheap end Fender Squire Jazz 4 that I payed $200 for. I have played lots of fretless basses, including fretless Warwicks, Laklands, Pedulas and lots of other fretless Fenders that cost more than $5000, and my little Squire beats them all for me! The interesting bit, it is brand new, and I played several other identical squires just like this one, and none of them have the sound of this bass. My favorite bit: I can achieve an amazing Jaco tone, and reach orgasmic harmonics. And it looks just like the Bass Of Doom to. Never know what basses are out there...

I played one of these in a GC about a year ago; so far it's the only jazz bass I've ever played that I actually liked and was able to get a good sound out of. I'd say the secret is the ebonol fingerboard, it's more or less a hard plastic, which can give a very velvety, muuaah'ey, tone....

But it beat by 100 miles any other jazz bass I've ever played in terms of tone, which is kind of sad I guess. In fact, I nearly walked out of there with it, but didn't have even the $250 at the time. It's one of the best deals around for a JB tho ;)....
