Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

So Glad this pedal has finally been 're-issued' (the main reason I just joined Talkbass!).

However, in 2016 we really shouldn't still be dealing with 3 digit, calculator style displays, as even a tablet device has significantly greater functionality at the same price (a slightly false-equivalent, but you get the point).

Look at ALL of the digital multi-effects pedal units (Boss Gt-10B/Gt-100, Zoom B3, Bass Pod XT, etc), look at the lcd displays, features and pricing, and then compare to The 'digital' Future Impact!

With so many edit parameters - a narrow two, or three line, alphanumeric display with 30 characters, would greatly improve usability/functionality. Is this a bit too much to ask for in 2016??

With a 'proper' display, the user could then easily deep-edit patches without the mostly obsolete midi-style software - you could then, clearly display the names of your patches, and not have to memorize them by number!

A much improved Future Impact Mk2 would be my hope.

But still, I'm truly grateful for the Future Impact Mk1!

I had a very interesting response from Someone at Panda yesterday in response to my request on how to create sine waves with the FI...

"Sine wave can be a possibility for future upgrade, as well as FM modulation which is my favorite. But in the first release we remained on a simple analog synth model which has square and saw, you know. But we will go on for sure!"

Firstly, is the first indication that they are looking at another Future impact? Or even better than that.... used the word "upgrade" so that could potentially mean its going to be implemented in a firmware update????

Second, FM MODULATION!!!!!!!! :)

im stoked!

My Future Impact is on the way!
It shipped last week and I got my tracking nymber for Hungarian post, but that only tracks until it leaves Hungary. Did you get a notice from DHL when yours was coming? I am out of town and don't want this sitting outside my front door for another few days.if I knew it was there, I could arrange for a friend to pick it up from my house and hold it for me.

I got an email from DHL with their tracking number. It sat in Queens going through customs for a couple days, but I got it pretty quick after that. You will probably get a message from them with another tracking number. Also, fyi, if you are in the US (or anywhere outside the EU), if you paid European VAT, Panda will refund it. They may have it figured out now where those deliveries don't get charged the VAT anymore, I don't know. But when I got mine, I paid the VAT initially. After a few weeks with no refund, I sent Gabor an email and asked him about it and I had the refund back in my account in a couple days.

Welcome to the Future Impact "Club"!!!:)

(Or are we all too old for clubs? Should someone start an unofficial list of who's in?) :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::D;)

Okay I have it!
Big question though. Is there a better way to get to presets? If I am on stage, is there a faster way to get from Bank 1 Prog 3 to Bank 7 Prog 4?
I am spoiled by Source Audio and the Hub.
Fastest way - find the patches you like the most, then rename/number them in the editor and reload them onto the device in order. I use Bank 9 for all my new patch testing and favorites.

Set it to DIRECT MODE (when you get it it is in the Deep Impact compatible DEFAULT MODE), then press PROGRAM once (UP mode) until it scrolls up from 13 to 74. Just one press on the pedal, but takes a few seconds. If you need fast transition, rearrange the programs in the editor.

Hi there!

For you guys with FI on stage at least 3 shows a week, the pedal is holding on? Any incidents? Can we trust FI live without fails or jumping presets?
I'm on list to get one and hope to use it live with no worries.

Regards to you all :)

It's on my board and gets transported twice a week, three weeks a month with no issues so far.

@Cassadrian - Ok, I tried this quick at work (shhh!!) with my practice bass and without my hair band at the nut (to keep strings from vibrating). Obviously it isn't the exact sound either or perhaps not the exact lick on the bridge of the tune you posted. Nevertheless, yes you can play octaves on the FI. Take a listen...

As I ve tried everything but still haven't found a gig trustworthy solution I started thinkung that there might be a problem with my pedal ir my bass..! I am running some tests right now to locate the issue.. could you plz tell me which exact preset did you use on those octaves? Thank you for your time!

I wish you would have asked me this when I posted the audio link. I believe I used one of my own patches. You can download the patch in my Soundsmike folder from the future impact shared google drive. It's patch 91 Deep impact new.prg

Here is a link to the patch in the folder.

Speaking only for the patches I have created, I also want to stress that technique and touch plays a big roll in achieving the patches to sound a certain way and trigger properly. I make many adjustments playing live technique wise in order to be successful with the pedal. It isn't just plug and play. Well at least not for me. There is a lot of tweaking and trial and error to get it to work to my satisfaction.

Also, remember we are all using different rigs, basses, etc which will also factor in. So a patch that works well for me may not work as well for you. You may have to tweak it for your instrument and playing style.
