There was a group that did it and a few of those are floating out there. Independently I also did my own with some help from a friend. I got mine into a 1590CE with the footswitches and everything. With precise measurements and carefully drilling, we got everything lined up on the first attempt, but you are correct that the jacks being surface mounted makes it a little more complicated.Having spend part of my weekend inside my Future Impact, I can say that there's a lot of empty space in that case...but you'd have to keep the two boards in the same formation...due to how the nest together. if it makes sense, the 'front half' (where the two switches are) is empty except for those...and the back half houses the boards. All in all, they're not terribly large, but the jacks, power & midi ports are all surface mount so it would be a pain to mess with.
