I'm guessing Andreas wanted to keep it as close to the Deep Impact as possible, which also had a large housing, possibly out of necessity. Not sure. Either way, a smaller footprint is definitely welcome, especially since I recently downsized my board, considerably.

I would guess in this case, the idea was to capitalize on the Deep Impact and make it as familiar as possible for the launch and/or given the prices of the original make it as close as possible to strengthen that for marketing. Obviously it's a choice. But then also, the ease of assembly and less fiddly work on a bigger enclosure makes sense too.

The FI is pretty long/tall. I mounted mine sideways on a PT-1 so it didn't interfere with the other rows of pedals. If it were shorter I could likely mount it vertically like it should be.

Yep...even compared to a full sized Strymon it seems a bit wonky in size:

That's a Pedaltrain Classic, and you can see it hangs over and is well longer than the others.

I wear anywhere from size 13-15 and I've never hit the bank button

Yeah perhaps, but speaking for myself I never touch the FI because I use the Boss ES5 to control it. So the smaller the better for me.

I'm an 11 and wear Doc Marten boots on stage...look how close some of the switches on the double switch pedals on my board are. Also, I'd actually like the ones on the strymon to be closer to each other since you have to hit them together to bank up/down.

I had this same issue because I trigger my pedals with my heel as they are set up behind me. I cut a notch in a pick and lightly wedged it under the button so it can't be depressed unless you remove the pick.

hmmm....interesting point you make. I do struggle with bank navigation. My biggest miss is I always end up changing values when trying to stomp.
