Removing them entirely is a bit extreme, replacing them with smaller buttons i understand will satisfy some users, including myself. This Obviously comes at the cost of simplicity. It would involve modification of the internals, rather than just rehousing them.

At NAMM 2019, yesterday, Source Audio demonstrated its C4 envelope filter and synth platform for the One Series. They demonstrated attack sensitivity on their digital envelope filters and showed some plans for expressive features that could shine even more on the Future Impact. At first glance, it appears they will have ADSR control, synth cross-modulation, many famous filter models, an arpeggiator for their synth, limited polyphonic pitch control (with some latency), and the ability to assign an external MIDI controller to ramp and modulate speed and pitch on certain parameters.

I really appreciate PandaMIDI listening to their users and making such a flexibke stompbox synth. I’m Looking forward to sering what the future FI firmware updates will bring.

Do not forget that if you eliminate the foot switches then:
1. you cannot upgrade the software anymore;
2. you cannot change configurations. That will be even more important from the next software version.

I should finally get some time to check out Quat’s patches this week.

Interesting thing - I was messing with my Pbass through some patches I had loaded up in the pedal. My Pbass has flats and I had the tone rolled off. The tracking was really bad. Not a huge shock there, but it was still getting a pretty defined fundamental. I open up the tone and it got better.

But then I started wondering if this pedal actually reacts better to a full spectrum;in other words - rounds. I know the consensus has been that it doesn’t matter, but I do think a few things go into getting really great tracking on a synth pedal. Technque is most important, setup of the pedal and then setup of the bass. All matter.

Anyway, just some random thoughts I had. My biggest thing is sometimes my tracking gets pretty pitchy, but I haven’t been playing through the pedal in a few weeks either.

I have been using an OCT-2 forever. That’s still the best tracking “synth” style pedal that I have. Incredible, actually. Of course I have a serious analogue fetish, so there’s that part as well.

My relatively brief experience is that it maybe likes 'full range' signal too much. You can trigger it with fret and string noise, which if you roll off a bit doesn't happen. So... ;)

Yeah thats another issue..lol. It doesn’t go away with flats, and I think it is more of a low/high action thing. But I am going to further tweak the sensitivity settings for that part of it.

Main thing I am speaking too is pitch warbles. I think it is just a matter of fine tuning.

Did you use the pitch-follow or non-pitch-follow version? That’s my second edit of one of the original Deep Impact patches.

I just posted a similar observation on Basschat last night. High action, high tension strings and playing on or near harmonic nodes seems to cause tracking issues as it’s harder to damp the harmonics.

I did find that mine was introducing some noise to my signal chain, probably because it's chained with a few other things, one of the main suspects being my Timeline. I've run into trouble with multiple digital pedals on the same tap causing this kind of high pitched noise. So, tonight I'll spend some time doing some re-organizing of what is shared with what and get that under control.

Then it's off to sort patches into categories and cull down to 99 and install them.
