Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Make sure you perform a “Reset All” via the boot menu, otherwise the tuner won’t default to 440.

Won’t be long until you have to update again.

Thanks! For now, I'll probably hold off (the newest pedal on the board is that StrobostompHD in the top row)...if people do 'Reset All" will they lose all their settings, etc?

Any edits to the parameters of patches on the pedal done using the EDIT dial will be lost. The startup patch will be reset to 1.

If I may just make the case one more time, I do understand the table yet still experience a fair bit of cognitive dissonance when reading, for example, that Sostenuto Pedal is the engage/bypass. My guess is that putting the names in like that is more likely to confuse someone inexperienced with MIDI than it is to help someone who is more experienced. JM $0.02.

After thinking about and looking at how other companies do it, I agree. I ran it past Andras and he was fine so it’s now amended as above.

Thanks for this too and thanks @BurningSkies for asking the question. I guess I will need to first do a dump of all my patches from my Pedal to the computer before doing a reset. I definitely have made edits of some of my patches with the edit wheel on my pedal.
Thanks!

Alternatively to reset all you can simply edit the tuner to 440, then you do not lose anything.

Please note, dumping the patches from the pedal to PC does not preserve edits made with the Edit dial. Those edits are stored in the pedal, not the patch file.

Tedious as it is, it’s worth making a note of any changes to settings you’ve made using the edit dial.

The term 'Reset All' implied it did more than just the tuner. ;) I'm leery of hitting any of that kind of stuff before I know what it'll really do in a wider sense.

Probably important to remember. I do know that any sound I use live has been adjusted for level during soundcheck. Very few levels end up being correct in the transition from 'home testing' to live venue.

Hold the presses here. I thought the point of being able to dump patches from the FI to the editor was to back up your FI including the edits? If it doesn’t do that, then what is really the point here? I totally did not understand it that way. Am I missing something here? If that is really the case, I appreciate you bringing it to our attention. I truly hope you’re mistaken, but I’m sure you’re not. Bummer.

I guess then the only purpose to back up your FI to the editor is if you want different patch order or patch sets for different situations that you can load on before your gig.

Just managed to create a phaser patch!

Having used both the FI and the C4, what's your honest opinion of using their on-board suites of effects v. using traditional pedals or other specific moduation, verb/delay, etc. pedals? I kind of in the mind that many are workable but don't have the control or finesse that you get from having a unit designed for such.

For me, for instance, I don't have a phaser on my board these days (thought I have a few laying about including a vintage Phase 90); but having on as a patch on one of my pedals would be a nice option, but if you're a 'phase pedal cork sniffer' it just won't do the trick.

There's a few chorus patches in my folder in the shared drive. I found the chorus to be fairly mild overall, but possibly usable depending on your needs.

Like I said when this product was first released, we should all be happy there's some effects in there at all, as opposed to disappointed at the sound or lack of features they provide.

I use your chorus. Not all the time since I'm not a big chorus guy, but it is a patch on my board. One thing to note about effect only patches is that they are not monophonic, they just add the effect to your dry tone.

@Quatschmacher phaser sounds nice as well

I don't use many modulation pedals, mainly phaser (have a Source Audio Lunar and a Chase Bliss Wombtone Mark II) and occasionally chorus (from the Lunar).

The C4's phaser options are pretty good and are three of the six found in the Lunar I believe. The C4 has pretty good control over all the parameters - just as good as the Lunar for those 3 models. Nether beats the Wombtone though for warmth.

The FI's chorus isn't as easy to dial in as a dedicated pedal where many of the options are pre-determined and one simply has to turn a knob or two. My phaser patch took a bit of work to program; again, not as easy as a dedicated pedal but, as you say, nice to have as a patch should you need it and could pass muster in live mix.

Looking for advice. I’m a huge fan of the FI pedal. Only use it on about 4 song a night but WOW. Gets people’s attention quick. So on advice. I have not updated as of yet. I’m happy with my current patches. Should I update? Looks like I need to write down any settings on my favorite patches 1st? And, where can I look at any new cool patch share?

Thanks in advance
Here’s a sloppy example of my fav patch live

Do the update but as Andras says, Instead of doing a RESET ALL, simply adjust the Tune Base to 440 via the boot menu. (The reason for performing the reset was to rest the tune base but you can do it manually.)

Here are all my v2 patches.

The vibrato via MIDI has been a feature from day one! Plug in an expression pedal sending out CC1. Set the LFO-to-VCO depth in the editor.

The core oscillator sounds haven’t changed, the updates are all functionality enhancements. It’s more that there’s full ADSR and the 4-slot mod matrix.

yeah i just have not had the expression pedal to plug in and try it yet with. Its on my list of things to buy so ill take any recommendations!

Also for me the ADSR is a huge part of getting the sounds i like so this is huge. Very excited for that feature.

additionally i want to mess with some hybrid sounds where you can hear the bass mixed in but also get a little synth flavor. I think this is where i can use it in studio quite effectively.
