Minor aside. Can't run the 3.0 editor on Mac since Catalina does not allow 32-bit applications any more.

does anyone know how easy it is to get one of my custom sounds from the old firmware up and running with the update?
Trying to update from 2.03 and I get the Communication Error - FI not present.
Using a M-Audio Midisport USB, same one I have always used. I am using Windows 10, been a while since I updated. Anything I am missing here?
-I tried plugging in the in and out MIDI cables each way
- Should be in update mode - the screen is bank and "on" light is blinking.
- I tried updating with the older editor and also with the new 3.0 one as well

Didn’t you have problems recently?
If you don’t need to back up your old files then just use the online updater.

Did you ever use the same hardware for software upgrading, not only for editing? If not then I would suspect the MidiSport.

No recent problems but I didn't know there was an online updater. I downloaded the file.
Yes I used it since I bought the FI and upgraded firmware twice. It's now on 2.03.

Maybe, it just didn't draw my attention.
That said - it worked! I'm on 3.0 and have all the new sounds. The online updater is awesome. I much prefer that method.

I never noticed, I had my FI setup a certain way and had not changed it for months until today.
That said, I am playing the new presets now. Very impressive. The tracking is fantastic and the sounds so far all seem to be balanced across the neck. Some of my old patches you could only play an octave up, but these have clean low notes as well. I am only on the first 20 so far, but yeah - awesome. I will next init a patch and make some simple old school stuff.
EDIT - some of these patches are hilariously creative..wow. People are going to flip over some of these.

Try uninstalling the editor, downloading and running “cleanmymac” and reinstalling the editor. There was a user on basschat who had this problem and this sorted it out for him.
I've already updated the firmware to 3.0, but have not powered it on and have not gone on to step 5 yet, as I cannot open v3Editor to write the new program library.
Should I power on back into update mode and reinstall firmware v2.22?
Any ideas if/when/how to get the new editor to work on Mojave?
cleanmymac is a third party app? I'll look into it right now. Though I will say, I recently updated to a new machine with a fresh install of the Mojave OS.

I believe so. I don’t have a Mac. I just talked a guy through problems he was having and this sorted it.
I presume you used an older version of the editor to update the firmware. Did you remove it before installing the v3 editor?

This is no good news if you cannot use the new editor, but to load the new program library you do not need it, it can be done in the last step with the online updater.
