Ok so here comes the walk of shame. Twenty years ago I would have NEVER admitted this and would have made up some lame excuse, but I’m happy to say I’ve grown to adulthood after being a child for several decades. I’m a man to admit when I made such a novice mistake.
I appreciate all of the help I received to rectify my problem, and it turns out that I’m the problem... just a dyslexic dumbass and made the most noob mistake anyone can make. I’m looking at the FI which I had taken off my pedal board to work with it and then it hit me. What an arse I am!!
The entire time I had the midi cables plugged in the wrong orientation. Yes swapped. I’ve done this a kazillion times the right way and for some reason my brain decided to compute that the midi output is next to the analog input. Don’t ask me why especially since I’ve done this successfully a million times. I must be getting old and senile. I mean not only did I do it last night that way, I did it tonight too. Unbelievable. Perhaps I will put some labels on my housing so I don’t make that mistake again.
what a dumbass I am so so sorry for wasting everyone’s time trying to help me. I feel like a douche. Egg on my face.
ok let me have it lol.
oh btw it worked on the first first try with the browser as soon as I hooked it up the right way lol. Can anyone say Captain Obvious??
Finally I’m going to get to try out these new patches. Oye.
You know, I'm actually not surprised. I have an Um-One and the markings on the pedal are somewhat counter intuitive...I've done that dance of plugging it in the way I believe it works then having to flip. And for some reason it makes more sense on some pedals rather than others. I wish they'd just put arrows on the damn connectors.
That said, I just uploaded a patch to the community share (I think I did it right
). Probably the simplest of flexi capabilities, but I made a patch and set them up to have just bass in the lower register and synth higher up with some harmony to play Don't tell me you Love Me, Night Ranger song my band is learning. I can play bass with no synth for most of the song and hit those synth chords in the verses up around the 12th fret with one patch. So cool!!
