I was able to update last night via Chrome as well - once I got Chrome to recognize my UM-ONE, it went smoothly.

Now to find all new patches to load up... @maisbass which folder is yours again, MM or Mike?

I used the web app. With that you can dump and load the entire pedal contents. I haven’t used the desktop version yet as it seems to take an eternity to unzip. Perhaps there is more functionality there.

I just tried to open the sysex file with the Mac app without having pedal. Unfortunately there is no way to do that. I will try to see if I can check this out tonight. Thanks again.

My patches were under the Soundsmike folder. I'm not sure if they were transferred that way to the new FI user database.

Successfully updated to V3 via the web-based updater. Nice work on that, love how it steps you through everything.

Had a very hard time getting my MIDI to work overall. I've always run my interface MIDI into an old MOTU MIDI Timepiece AV as a MIDI splitter/router without issue. Until now. The editor couldn't even modify patches on the pedal so I knew the communication wasn't working and the firmware update wouldn't work. Based on the panel LEDs the MOTU didn't seem to be repeating the MIDI from my interface across all of its outputs. Threw my for a loop, and I couldn't figure out why it doesn't appear to be working. So I just plugged directly into my interface which worked fine.

Earlier I said that my Um-One's markings aren't all that intuitive... I discovered last night that it wasn't the 'markings' as much as different pedals want different things. The FI, when I updated a few days ago... I plugged the I/O as one might suggest according to how they're labeled...and it worked as planned. Yet when I did the same last night with my Boss ES-5 to do some programming, it only worked when I actually flipped the connections. Legit the 'out to MIDI in' on the ES needed to actually go to the "MIDI out" and vice versa.

I am using windows. Don’t know if that affects SysEx files.

I removed the “sounds” prefixes and all Talkbass folders are prefixed with “TB”, so “Soundsmike” is now “TB-Mike”, etc.

Howd you get chrome to recognize it? PC recognizes it but not chrome. I am thinking my work locked out some permissions...but I can connect to the ES-8 editor w no problems. I am eager to try again soon, but any tips before hand so it will be a success are appreciated.

I'm a Deep Impact user who loved the sounds but suffered occasional hardware breakdowns (even after reflowing the boards) when playing gigs. I bit the bullet and bought a Future Impact, as once I lose faith in a piece of equipment I can't trust it anymore...

So far I've spent may hours trying to recreate my 5 patches or so and am pretty close. Some sound better but I'm having particular trouble trying to nail the Bad Mamma Jamma square wave sound while getting good tracking. The intro of the song is a fairly fast passage which is my 'litmus test'.

I've found several versions of the patch on the online database from other TB users, but none have great tracking. I'm at the point now where I just have two VCOs with square waves (pitch +12 on one) and everything else disabled and it just won't track like the other patches...

Does anyone have a square wave patch with good tracking which I could use as a basis?

I'll be using the pedal live for the first time at a corporate function later this week and am looking forward to it...

Is this a bass sound or a lead sound? Are you playing on bass?

Tracking is generally better when pitching oscillators down and playing higher up.

I’ve got one bank of the Morningstar MC6 MKII to give II-V-I progressions in both major and minor variations, with both up-down and down-up root movement, built off both the 3rd and off the 7th of the chords. The internal voice leading is all correct so that if you assign different wave shapes to the four oscillators you will get nice chromatic movement within a single voice. I’ve even managed to add variations on the I chords.

It’s set up on two pages. Button A toggles between pages. Each page has a row dedicated to the major and minor progressions. Page 1 is built off 3rds, page 2 off 7ths.

This bank covers the 4-note close voicings. I’m off to do the open variations.

Should be, though maybe not as versatile. I thought about getting an ES-8 (and still might) but this MC6 is amazing.

You should be able to do it on TouchOSC for smartphones/tablets. You need to be able to send out 4 CC messages on a single button as I have the four flexis controlling the pitches of the four oscillators via separate MIDI CCs.

This is great Peter, many thanks!!! I got the MC6, it's very versatile (not just with
the Future Impact, I am using mostly to pilot the H9 now). My only minor complaint
is the absence of a USB-MIDI host (available on the DMC however), but nothing is
perfect...

Here's some unrelated yet useful information for wind players. A small French
company has released a revolutionary microphone, that sounds as great as
professional dynamic microphones, while being as compact as piezo microphones,
which allow complete insertion inside the tube of the instrument.

This means no spill, no feedback, no need to drill the instrument, while having a
rich natural tone. I have been using it on my saxophone for about a month with the
Future Impact and other crazy effects, and I can now hope to play in a live situation
with a single wet/dry channel.
