First thing, you have to have two free Flexis, so with patches using more than two Flexis you have to modify them.
The other thing is that finding exact split points is limited with just the 6 hard transition curves. They are in 4th or 5th steps when used with Pitch as source if I recall it right. And the transition is 2 or 3 semitones.
As for activating the two Flexis used for the split I’m not sure if it’s could be done. You cannot switch on-off a flexi with MIDI CC. Maybe with the range controls you can send them out of useful range but it seems a bit complicated.

For using a button to activate a split I was thinking of assigning range control to a MIDI CC and using a button on the MC6 to flip the CC value between 0 and 127 which should switch it on and off.

Alternatively, I could assign the range control of the parameter itself to a MIDI CC and do the same thing with the toggle button.

If the parameter is already a Flexi destination then you cannot assign another MIDI CC via Flexi. But the first option could work, only if you want to use the range control for fine tuning the split point, then it’s a bit trickier. Then you have to toggle between 0 and let’s say 100.

Stevie "Boogie on Reggae Woman"

Just caught up w the thread and lots of eye opening suggestions to try on this future compact > um-one users next swing at the upgrade. I had troubles going to the mid way upgrade and kinda gave up. I havent reas this thread in a few weeks cause I was so frustrated. Was waiting to try on a different computer but now will give it another swing this week...can't wait...fingers crossed.

I am using an ES-8 to switch patches and recently discovered the glories of setting assignments on a patch...seeks like the v3 is gonna get nuts. Thanks to everyone's efforts amd all.of you sharing your frustrations amd resolutions...it has given me new hope.

the “gently phasing dual saws” factory patch with do boogie on, you can play around with the cutoff and other parameters to fine tune. I also attempted that patch several times in the old version and it is in my Talkbass patches on the online database. I think I called them “SW failure” or something.

I've just uploaded a little experiment for any Morningstar MC6 MKII owners. It's in the Online Program Database and is called "QM MC6 Chord Test 1". If you download my SysEx file for my MC6 and load it, then bank 2 will give you access to 6 chord types in on 6 buttons. The two expression inputs control modulation and synth volume. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to import and export a single MC6 bank so make sure you back up your controller before trying to load my SysEx file. File is [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Yes, it can fine tune it. Just tried with the factory split patches I made, I put CC1 to the range control and if I start to lower the value from 127 then the “split point” moves lower (or higher if the direction is reversed).

Sounds great, 2a is pretty close.
How is it going with playing the octave skips in the chorus, specially like the High G# and B´s?
No trouble playing short fast notes. But low and High octave skips.. And tips n tricks?

Thanks. It’s still a bit tricky. Everything needs to be played staccato and with tight muting between notes. I’m finding some bridge pickup added to my P pickup is helping. Wonder if a fret wrap or foam mute would improve things.

A fret wrap helps, but still not enough.
But a foam or palm muting maby..

Is it possible to load the Sysex file into the MC6 computer software? I don’t remember if that is possible. Unfortunately I’m working late tonight so I won’t be able to test this out. Bummer.

I used the web app. With that you can dump and load the entire pedal contents. I haven’t used the desktop version yet as it seems to take an eternity to unzip. Perhaps there is more functionality there.

Successfully updated to V3 via the web-based updater. Nice work on that, love how it steps you through everything.

Had a very hard time getting my MIDI to work overall. I've always run my interface MIDI into an old MOTU MIDI Timepiece AV as a MIDI splitter/router without issue. Until now. The editor couldn't even modify patches on the pedal so I knew the communication wasn't working and the firmware update wouldn't work. Based on the panel LEDs the MOTU didn't seem to be repeating the MIDI from my interface across all of its outputs. Threw my for a loop, and I couldn't figure out why it doesn't appear to be working. So I just plugged directly into my interface which worked fine.
