Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

AWW YEAH! Nailed it!
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Sloppiness due to my expression pedal not always hitting 0% and 100% (where I have the inversions mapped).

Buttons on MC6 toggle between major and minor chords in root position now - one button in the bank for each of the 12 notes of the chromatic scale. Expression 1 controls the inversion - heel down for 1st inversion, toe down for 2nd inversion:

Awwww Q! Getting your Camera Eye on. I want to hear that next! Sounds freakin great!

Hi Peter,

I have been trying your MC6 patches.

On Bank 1, I am surprised to see Prg Up and Bank Down/Up, since the MIDI CCs are not
described in the manual. And indeed, those presets do not work. Is it that you are using
a new unreleased firmware?

On Bank 2 (chords), could you send the corresponding Future Impact patch that is controlled
by the corresponding MC6 presets?

A last general question:
when I loaded your MC6 configuration, this fully erased mine. Is there a way to merge
banks from several configurations?

Thanks!

Hi Serge,

Yes, I’m on v3.01 on which there are CCs for Program Up/Down, Bank Up/Down and Tuner On/Off.

For the bank 2 sounds, download my latest uploaded patch from the FI Online Program Database site. “MC6 Chord Test 1”.

However, I’ve got a much better implementation going now and will be making that available when I’m satisfied with it. I’m going to be using CC21-24 to control the pitch of oscillators 1-4 respectively and CC12 to control VCO transpose from now on to try and standardise my patches on the FI and MC6.

My 2 II-V-I banks are pretty much ready.

Sadly, there is currently no way to save/load a single bank. I emailed James at Morningstar to ask for that feature to be added. Perhaps if others do that too, it may speed up the process. It’s definitely something which would be useful.

OK, is V3.01 is coming soon?

I found your FI chord patches, they are working great!
I guess that the expression control of inversion is not
released yet? I am eager to see the face of my fellow
guitar players when I start taking their spot with a mere
saxophone :-)

I will write to James. Probably the only option it to load
your MC6 configuration, copy on paper the settings, reload
my configuration, and create the corresponding banks.
That's really primitive...

I am glad to contribute financially to your effort (also for the
new manual, which is really great). I would prefer to use
directly Paypal, do you have an account?

Serge.

Glad to hear they are working. Those were just a quick test though. I’ll do so better ones like that that maybe only use upper structures.

V3.01 is only a minor update (with a bug fix for the global MIDI channel problem that meant editor communication was only possible in OMNI mode) and a the few extra MIDI commands I mentioned. I have since thought of a few other useful ones and have asked Andras if he’d mind adding them. Let’s see.

Andras is/has been away so release will be after he returns and when he’s satisfied that it’s working properly.

Yes, the lack of single bank import/export on the MC6 is cumbersome. You’d could take screenshots of each button’s messages (don’t forget the expression pedal settings page too for each bank).

I have one bank where each inversion is on a separate button on page 1 (so three buttons for major triads and three for minor triads) and then the semitone offsets are on page 2 but it’s a bit clunky.

The inversion-on-expression bank is something I came up with only last night and I feel it needs some work still, especially for changing between major and minor shapes quickly; I need to rethink the button actions a bit. In that setup Each button across the two pages has the note name (relative to C) and toot-position major chords on toggle position 1, minor chords on toggle position 2 and expression sweeps the two inversions. It’s a bit limited too as in this implementation it’s impossible to immediately switch to a non-root-position chord, which is frustrating. I’m thinking about another way to do it.

The II-V-I banks work really well (though would be better if I could remove any double-tap functions as that causes slight latency on single press functions). I’m thinking about adding an external 3-button pedal to take care of page toggling/bank mode and to jump to a specific other bank quickly.

Thanks about the manual! I’m very proud of it and glad you are finding it helpful.

I’ve just been thinking of some ideas for a page to choose what message a dedicated single expression pedal page could do, which I’ll try tonight.

@SergeF I’ve also improved bank 1 a fair bit.

I will definitely welcome the Up/Down enhancement. Will contribute for sure.

....

Please do consider making a small pledge on Patreon for the many hours I’m putting in on this. I’m coming up with some pretty cool stuff.

Truthfully though, the thanks should be coming from Panda Audio and not their customers
Don't worry, I have been thanked by the people at Panda and have no complaints about my treatment. It is always nice to hear that my work has benefited users too though!

Without your work and commitment to this project, I would have jumped ship for the C4 due to my frustrations on updating alone, but you did a great job in keeping us informed and guiding just about everyone through the apparently difficult upgrades (once done it was painfully easy, but it is shocking at how many of us struggled with it)...not to mention that work you did on v2.0 to keep this pedal relevant in the discussions around synth effects with your amazing patches in the user community.
You're welcome. Thanks again. I don't want to take too much credit for having stopped you buying a C4 though! It's also a fantastic pedal (I bought one as soon as I could) and I was heavily involved with online discussion with Roger from Source Audio while it was still in development and their team took on board and implemented some of the things I suggested. I am happy to hear that I was able to help you (and others) in getting to grips with the FI though.

I would want access to the up/down MIDI CC's but isn't that through Panda Audio and not you?
Yes, those specific commands are indeed implemented by Panda of course. (I did specifically ask for these to be added after another user mentioned it before v3 was released.)

What I'd be making available is either my workings for the chordal stuff so that people can implement my method on their own controller. Or, for any MC6 MKII owners, I can give access to the banks I'm creating which they can load onto their controller. Sadly at present there is no way to save and load a single bank, which means users can only overwrite their controller with the contents of mine. (I hope that Morningstar address this because if users currently want to add a bank of someone else's whilst preserving the rest of their own, they have to basically make a note of the settings and enter it all manually, which is a bit tedious, not to mention how easy it might be to miss a setting and thus not work as intended.)

I'll also be making my patches available which will work with my MIDI implementation. These patches will work for non-MIDI users too. The beauty of using MIDI is that I can use something other than CC1 to control the cool stuff I'm doing, which means that the filter and pitch vibrato will still be usable by all.

this could be classes or videos explaining some stuff in dumbed down terms as it relates to the editor and the Future Impact?
This is something that @GisserD suggested we do together, though I've been struggling to get a free weekend to travel down to his house.

Perhaps you're right that I should just make individual bits of work available for folks to buy rather than anything monthly.

Apologies if this is coming across as cheap or mean spirited, it is not meant to.
No offence taken.

appreciate the input @Quatschmacher I'll look a bit deeper into the patreon thing and then kick a thank you for certain!!!

as a side and to give back a tiny bit, today I had a bit of time so I took the iphone TouchOSC editor and updated it for iPad and channel 10 (the channel I use the FI at in my chain). I haven't tested it at all yet, but plan to this weekend. I only consolidated the presets to a single page and tried putting all the controls on one page as well.

Cool. To be honest, there’s probably room for improvement on it. I had intended to add some more sliders and XY pads. I might at least update it with the new tuner and bank/program commands if I get time, though I’m obsessed with the MC6 right now.

Shoot. Still having issues getting my Mac to open FI editor 3.0.
Error states
FIeditor cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
So bummed. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to get this to work on Mac Catalina 10.15.1 ?

Please read the manual section on installing the editor. Sounds like your MAC is set to only open apps from the App Store. There are instructions in the manual.
