Better pitch tracking was an incentive for me as well, but I'm also curious about "longer ADSR release for the full ADSR cycle."

That bit is pretty cool; you can pluck and stop a note on the bass and have the synth still ring out longer. If you put pitch tracking sensitivity onto low you c a then even play bass lightly over the top of a sustained note without having to use the cc64 sustain feature. You can get some pretty cool effects like this.

Yes, I agree the form factor could be smaller. However, this was a redesign that was due to a component being unexpectedly discontinued and so there was still housing stock to use up and other stuff so a full redesign wasn’t an option. Throwing away stock isn’t really an option for such a small company.

Yes, possibly, but bulk ordering is definitely a way to save a lot of money. Also, the original release was conceived at the outset as a project that would be developed over five years or so. In fact, it was something like six and a half years from initial release to final firmware update.

Obviously you don’t have to buy it if you don’t like it. I’m sure there are others here for whom this release is still very exciting. Sure, it has its quirks and foibles like any product, but it is still doing things that other pedals just can’t do.

So out of 4999 FI units so far, how many have gone into @GisserD’s housing and how many into others? I’m going to go out on a limb and say that number is maybe 100-150 at best.

that’s correct - I’ll be sticking with my rehoused V1 which is perfect for my needs.

that said - if they did a hardware revisit, I would definitely be ordering a new one.

How much added resolution is there on the onboard hardware parameter edit control on v4? The limited non-continuous adjustment range on mine is one of my few issues with the unit. Of course improved tracking is going to be a plus too!

Actually I find the graphics aren’t to my taste at all. But your “slicker“ is also an aesthetic rather than an ideal of beauty, and will take its own turn looking embarrassingly dated.

I get the impression that slick aesthetic design is not the main focus of this company. The guy behind it is on the forefront of software solutions for pitch to midi and pitch-tracking software in general and I suspect is probably behind lots of other amazing innovations that we have no idea about. He simply reused the general design of the original Akai unit, which IMO is more interesting than yet another rectangular Hammond enclosure and probably kept costs down. The art is a bit amateur sure, but again that isn’t really his focus, costs decent money to pay someone else to hone in well, and people are always gonna love or hate the aesthetic of anything like this anyway. Its a pretty cheap pedal for what you get as far as function IMO, so I temper my expectations about secondary traits like looks. It’s not offensive, the art/labeling is functionally sound, and looks nicer than sharpie on a bare enclosure. If people wanna bling theirs up then go ahead- it’s not that hard or expensive to do so.
