I was about to go for an H9 but naw, this is better. Is midi out just for daisy chaining? I can't wait to make an all deep impact demo like I did with Octavius Squeezer.

Playing with midi is cool. If the sound is there it could be a cool mono synth to sequence in Maschine.

I confused about a couple things. What is the beat parameter? Is the Harminizer going to sound similar to an EHX POG?

It is another kind of detune. While "FINE" detunes the voice with a given musical interval, "BEAT" detunes it with a given number of Hz. I explain more exactly what it means. If you want to run two oscillators running with a slow "beat" between them, e.g. you let them run on 110 Hz A, and detune one of them with "FINE" to get a 1 Hz beating between them. However, if the oscillators play 3 octaves higher, then you get 880 Hz and 888 Hz, which is a 8 Hz beating -- a very unpleasant fluctuation. If you use the "BEAT" slider instead of "FINE", you can detune so that the beating between them will be constant overall.

I do not know the POG. The Deep Impact contains almost fully its predecessor, the UB1 Unibass (however, this is not obvious since AKAI did not exploit the sounds of the harmonizer portion). The FI is a superset of both.

If it launches/becomes avaliable January, I'd imagine it would be available immediately via his pandamidi online store for everyone. It doesn't seems like he's using a distributor, so I don't think they'll be separate release dates for certain regions/countries.

I've been thinking about this as well as others have posted and was wondering the same thing. Why on earth would you expose your poker hand? But then again, if you review this thread from the beginning, there have been many posts that just make you scratch your head.

Discussion about pricing is getting rather tiresome in this thread. Developer had stated he read the entire thread since its inception. So most likely he had read that many had stated that 'price' was a concern. So if he wanted to sell more volume on pedals, sure he may price it competitively with similiar like pedals that are currently being sold in the market... even with that being said that boss pedal that was mentioned in the thread is what $700 new? Guess we should all wait until the developer unveils a price and quit talking about pricing......kinda like asking about being on some imaginey list

Okay, well this did cross my mind. And I think it's fair enough. But I think (a) the cat is out of the bag, (b) it's going to be hard to keep people from asking about the price, (c) the people commenting are the ones who are likely to be willing to pay the most, but not necessarily representative of the average customer or what would be a good price point for a good business model.

If you go back, the developer has mentioned that he considers the used prices on the Deep Impacts very high. So I hope he is trying to make a cost-conscience alternative, even as he offers a much improved product. But we need to be realistic too. Roger from Source Audio weighed in on what he thought a reasonable price might be, and it was pretty high. So maybe I'm just trying to temper my expectations. Again, if the developer bases his price on what the 10 most excited people say they're willing to pay, then I think that is not necessarily a good business idea on his part.

If priced to sell in the current packaging I think under $300 is reasonable. The octavius squeezer was priced at $600 and I think that was a big part of what killed the sales of that product. I bought 2 and the going rate was $320 -350 each time. The OS had complete onboard editing, slurpy goodness in tone and a solid sexy housing that felt very well built. Yes it also had short comings, mainly tracking. If you want the FI to hold value and sell more than a once off 100 you'll need a more solid, complete, sexier interface. I built a far more advanced desktop synth for under $200 with LCD, more knobs and digital waves and analog filter+vca. The tech isn't expensive, development is. I assume lots of units for reasonable price can give same or better return than less units at a high collectors price.

All that said, this will be mine. But I think I am a minority. To capture more buyers I think $300 or less would fly off shelfs.

How is the interface not solid or complete? Admittedly you could make it look better. He could easily release the source code for the editor and someone could wire it up with a WPF front-end and have something pretty slick looking.
