Fuzz Shootout - Making My Bass Go ROAR!!

Killer video! You definitely brought into light the pros and cons of both pedals. Most videos are just highlight reels. I'm not sure which fuzz I like better, but I think that I like all of the tones that the Pickle Pie B put out (plus the blend sounded super sweet) and only most of the supercollider ones...hmm...maybe Ill just have to pick up both

I felt the same way, the Pickle NEVER had a bad tone, but they were only ok-good. The one tone the SC does well, it does it REALLY well!

Yeah, I understand. But, if you ever have the chance to check one out, it definitely won't disappoint.
Maybe I can talk the local guitar shop dude to letting me borrow it. He has before with other things..and he's had that thing sitting in the pedal case for MOOOONTHS now
I don't lose lows with this but it boost your highs so it does seem to cut lows but actually it doesn't, my only complaint is it need more output volume over all. Supper fuzz variants usually don't have a lot of boost past unity.
I'm on the list as well, and he is also building me a feedback looper called the Samurai Switch V2.0.
Just some thoughts on the Tentacle Love Super Fuzz:

Co-designed by our very own Grygrx, this pedal is rad. The "saw" side is snarly and very in-your-face lead tone. The "hook" side is basically the "saw" side with its own volume level control and a filter control. All the way counter-clockwise the "hook" side is the exact same as the "saw" side just with its own volume control. With the filter all the way maxed out it gets really heavy (my favorite sounds from this pedal came from this configuration). This pedal has no problem standing out in a full band mix (drums and two LOUD guitards in my case), it'll let you know its there for sure.
I thought it was really cool, but just not what I wanted. IMO, almost all of the lows in the sound come from the clean blend, and the fuzz is all in the mids and highs. I don't really know enough about it all technically, but it definitely isn't subterranean like a muff or the Swollen Pickle MkII can sound. Not to say that there isn't enough low end retention in this pedal or anything...there is definitely some balls to be had here.
The saw side is snarly and definitely a "lead" tone (octave up fuzz in there as well), and the hook side will get you much closer to a more traditional muff, with less scooped mids. However, even with the filter control on the hook side all the way clockwise (10) the sound still cut through the mix, unlike more traditional muff circuits.
I liked this pedal a lot, but it just doesn't suit my needs in this band very well. If I was in a heavier project (closer to These Arms Are Snakes, or something like that) I probably wouldn't be selling this fuzz, it's just not the tone I'm looking for in this band.

This pedal was really rad, very versatile. The tone of this fuzz is probably one of the best muff tones that I have heard so far (in my limitless fuzz experience
). The more traditional muff sounds (scooped-mids) sounded lush and full and the with a twist of the mids and tone knob you could get really raspy and nasty.
I also thought the implication of the pre knob with the fuzz knob helped you not only to broaden the tonal possibilities of this pedal, but also to fine tune the exact amount of fuzz you wanted to hear. Very Cool.
Unfortunately for me, it doesn't have a clean blend. Not that it needs it. You can really stand out in a mix without any low end loss (it doesn't drop away like most muffs). I've just determined that the fuzz tone that is in my head is very particular. I don't want the sound of my bass to go away at all...I just want it to get heavier.

And an update on the Gnomeratron for the folks here, McSpunckle has now figured out how to make the diodes interchangeable so you can rig it any damn way you please for the paltry extra sum of $5
