FuzzBattle: B:assmaster vs Bass Big Muff

Fuzz 1 sounds like the B:Assmaster. Is there anyway I can get one of those under 200 dollars?

They usually go on eBay for $200.

Fuzz 1 is B:Assmaster.
In the last part of fuzz 2 sample there is a really great amount of the dry signal.

The first clip sounds like other clips I've heard of the B:Assmaster, and the first part of the second clip sounds like classic Muff to me. The B:Assmaster is a funny thing in that I have mad GAS for it even though I have never liked even one clip I've ever heard of it. It's just the cosmetics that have me wanting it.

cosmetics.....thats interesting you say that.....the assmaster does have something about it's appearance that jsut screams buy me.

Funny...I feel the exact opposite. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics or the fact it's equivalent in size to a cinder block.

#1 is totally the assmaster. It's distinctive and cool, but certainly not for everybody - I suppose that's the point though (also I think the Germanium smooths over the "sack o'bricks" sound of the 'original' silicon)

I can see how not everybody digs the somewhat scooped sound of the BBM, but it is a very practical pedal that replicates vintage recorded fuzz bass tones very well and has lots of other tonal possibilities. It isn't an over-the-top, high gain fuzz, but that's what a second fuzz pedal is for!

Fuzz 1, hands down. The 2nd fuzz sounded weak on the last 2 settings

I didn't like either, but the BBM sounded weak sauce. I wonder how they would sound after an MXR Blue Box though...

Fuzz 1 is the Assmaster, Fuzz 2 is the BBM.

My favorite muff is still the Black Russian, though, since (as I've said before) the BBM is just too tame for my tastes.

big fun. i think 2 seemed to sound weaker, but more so because it sounded like the pedal volume was quieter overall in relation to the drum track, especially on the last two takes. was there unity gain for each of the six different takes? perhaps it's just the frequencies at work...

Second take on Fuzz #1 sounded the best.

And just to repeat everyone else: #1 was the Assmaster, 2nd was BBM.

I really dig fuzz 2 if only for the first tone, nice smooth bassy fuzz, subtle and elegant yet very present.

I have the silicon without the extended freq range, but it is an awesome fuzz.

Great thread, thank you grygrx. I own the BBM, and had an opportunity to buy a B:Assmaster locally.
I'm surprised how similar they sounded. the muff was a biz fizzier, while the B:A was "drier" sounding.

They sound close enough to me that I don't feel the need to drop the $200 on the B:Assmaster.
