For those of you who have played the current 5 string basses with the graphite neck and have also played the original basses from the 90's (like mine) with the graphite channel in the wood neck, how would you compare the neck profile? I've sold off all but one of my 35" scale basses because I've developed some left hand issues and the 35" scale makes matters worse. The only 35" I still own is my '99 GGould. The neck profile feels very thin, I guess it's 'flattened oval', and is actually pretty comfortable for me. I've been interested in getting one of the newer ones a few times but have never played one and am concerned that the profile would be thicker and cause problems.

Did anyone else get the e-mail from the Bass Place offering up the Mary Kay Blue GGi5 at $1295? Well I did. And when I called to buy it, they would not sell it at the posted advertised price!! While I think there might be a problem legally with what they did there, I let it slip.. Anyway, it is now down to $1695 if someone is looking for a smoking deal on a G. Gould

i'm kidding. looks like another case of gremlins getting into the servers again and releasing bad poop onto the interwebs.

amazon has these 'glitches' once in a blue moon where items are being sold for around a buck.

sometimes they'll honor the boo-boo. most times they'll say 'no deal'.

considering that gould's are probably wholesale priced around $1.5-$2k, $1295 would be a bit of a loss to t.b.p.

doubt think they're in the business of giving cash away! :laugh: ;)

they're good people. had nothing but great buying experiences with them.

the bass isn't on the site so looks like someone did snag it.

ok by me. still looking for an elusive early gould fiver with the maple neck. drool

nice! very nice.

some have complained that the use of centerpieces was a way for builders to get around running out of wood.

i think they look spectacular.

was going thru old files on my about-to-die 10 y.o. mac and dug up this one that got away.

believe it was on craigslist locally. still drool-worthy...
