These basses look incredible. I wish I'd known about them last fall when that rainbow trout finish 4 string was in the classifieds. What a deal!
yeah, it looks like it's an exclusive thing for owners of newer four-string gould's.
i only have fivers and no shims.
I see. Both of mine are 5'ers. However my older 1998 did need the G string saddle shaved to get a better angle on the string

Which is really the strange thing. I do not have small hands at all, but the wider string spacing is just something I cannot get used to. Like I said, this bass is really a beauty, but I cannot just let it sit. Too good of a bass to do that. I begs to be played live

I just bought the ggi6 that was for sale on Reverb. I will post photos when it arrives. Lately I seem to be playing 6's more frequently, especially when reading. I have Roscoe fretted and fretless 6's and a MIJ Ibanez Prestige. The Ibanez is better than expected and the Roscoe's are terrific but I wanted a 6 with tighter string spacing and 35" scale.
Some killer 5's will be sold now that the ggi6 is coming.

I will post photos and my impressions when the 6 arrives, Geoff. One of the reasons I bought this bass is because my ggi5 plays so evenly and has the same sweet tone everywhere on the fingerboard. There are no "land mine" notes anywhere on that bass.
The 6 has a pau ferro fingerboard and a spalted maple top over alder where my 5 is an ash body and the standard fingerboard which I think is phonalic. I expect the 6 will have a slightly darker tone.

Beautiful ggi5. My ggi6 is on the FedEx truck for delivery today. Photos later after it arrives. I'm pumped!
