yup.

it's just that since only a limited number are available, not a lot of cats have access to check one out and purchase one.

with that being said, corner music and the bass place have their stock up for a look-see on their respective websites and also on reverb.

used ones will pop up occasionally here, evilbay, reverb, and craigslist.

most cats have given my gould's a curious glance at first peep coz they've never seen or heard of a g. gould bass.

darn shame coz they're favorites of mine.

They are good looking basses. I am looking to add to my harem, but I have a hard time even considering a Gould when they have been in business for so long and there are ZERO videos on youtube of people playing them. No way I am shelling out 3k for a bass that I can't at least hear first. What gives??

anywho, I did remotely pull the trigger based on past experience with Modulus basses. He's graciously building this one for me

I totally agree that it's a drag to spend a lot of money on a mail-order bass. Unfortunately, we only have a few dealers, so it's not easy. Our output is so small, we probably couldn't keep up if we were more popular. Since I am the founder of Modulus, it's not an unfair assumption to say that if you're familiar with Modulus basses, you'll know a lot about what we do. Maybe this summer, I can make some videos!

I had thoughts of upgrading to some Delano times square pickups(really like the look of them) before switching to the glock pre but honestly I am now content with the emg's.
Also can't justify dropping big $$$ on them without knowing exactly how they would sound in my bass.
The only thing I don't like about the EMG's is they are not very comfortable to use as a thumb rest.

These are intended to be professional instruments, designed for change. Even when I've made a passive bass, I put a battery cavity in the back in case it needs to be upgraded. The EMG pickups are in a shape used by almost all pickup makers, which makes it easy to swap pickups without having to hire a luthier!

Do you find the little notch in the pup makes it uncomfortable for a thumb rest? I've always wondered about that myself. Jim

I expect that you will be very happy with it. I've had a lot of basses come and go since I got my Gould over ten years ago. It's still one of the best 5 strings I've ever played. It's a little heavy for me to gig with, but I've kept it all this time because it's a joy to play and the tone is excellent.
