G&L ASAT stringing

Hi there! At first when I got my ASAT I thought it was a too bright sounding bass for me, but it has grown on me and I'm learning to manhandle it to places I enjoy. I am thinking of stringing it for slapping as I have not changed the strings it came with. I'd like to get something that does'nt build up the bright sound allready in it, any suggestions?

DR Sunbeams = round-core suppleness with a nice full bottom and sparkly but smooth top end.
DR Nickel Lo-Riders = stiffer than the SBs due to hex core but with a subdued top end.

I've had several different sets of strings on my L2000. To my ears it sounds best with the Daddario XL nickels it came with. The Dunlop Super Bright Nickels sound pretty good on it as well. I've tried several different stainless steel strings and it's just too much of a good thing, ya know? Now that I think of it. Rotosound Swing Bass nickels sounded pretty good too but might be a bit dark sounding for slapping.
