Try them and see what you like. For me, I tried several flats on my L2000 and ended up going back to rounds, and I'm a flats player mostly, but I felt they were holding back the bass' natural tone. You may feel differently however.

i have fought rounds for years - my L2000 is the first bass i really liked rounds on.

I was intending to put rounds on it but the pack of flats were the only new string set I had laying around. Normally just for my P basses. I will try it like this for a while. I does sound very good tho!

g&l's are the only basses I put rounds on. actually I refused rounds forever. now that I have become an exclusive g&l player, i only play rounds. but, I like the rounds to be a bit dead.
The evolution of the bass guitarist can be circular. I have decided that I want a SB model, and need to decide whether it would be an SB-2 or SB-1. On a SB-2, I would stack the volume controls, and put in a Tonestyler pot, and on a SB-1, I would have to install a pull-slap control. 29 years after I first start playing, it looks like a homecoming to P-style-land.
G&L Club founder Stuggi hasn't posted on talkbass since 04-05-2010, so you'll likely be waiting a long time. By now the count is in the 400+, and I've no idea if there's a master list floating around anywhere. Just assign your own number like I did.

Well not my first G&L but I just picked up this L-2000 Tribute lately so add me to the club. I think this is around a 2005 model. Cleaned it up and strung it with a fresh set of flats. Neck needed just a bit of adjusting and after that she was sounding and feeling good. I will put it in the mix with our band later this week. Should be nice!

I'm curious -- for those who've tried the Tribute and the US l2000, do you notice much difference on the 9" vs 12" neck radius, or the neck at all?
I've got a L2000 Tribute and am still getting used to the neck (I usually play 1.5" and thinner necks).
But I looooove the sound.

I'm curious about this too. I'm trying to decide between the L2500 Tribute and the USA, but I can't play a Tribute because the store just have the USA ones... I think the neck radius is the main difference between the two, right?
The USA plays nicely and I would love to buy it, but I want to know how different is the neck on the Tribute line... They are much cheaper and don't seem to be much worse.

I think this one was called "honey" but I am not completely sure. I do kinda like the orangish hue. Looks like G&L's color offerings change from year to year. I will have to see what was offered that year.
I was strictly a 1.5 neck player until I got the tribute l2000. I like that neck more than my USA SB-2 1.5 neck
Some people can switch easily between different radiuses and neck widths, some can't.
In my opinion, if I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars (or more) on an instrument, I am going to wait to get one that has the radius and width that I like and am comfortable with. Sure, you can get used to it, but why? USA G&Ls come in all radiuses and widths, so wait I wait until I can get exactly what I want.

replacement pickups will run about $100, +time and labor to sort out whatever mess is in there.
USA G&L's sell in the $700 price range fairly often.
ymmv, and you may love that bass enough to take on it's issues.

Thanks chef... if only I had some more patience... the curse of being young, i suppose. Some good advice though.
the other thing, though, is that i don't have a bass. i do have gigs and stuff coming up so I can only afford to be so patient before pulling the trigger on something.

Do you have a G&L delaer near you?
If you have gigs/income maybe you can work a rent to own deal.
Or, you could buy a cheap but serviceable SX P bass for $129 to get you thru, sell if for $100 later.
Or something.
