G&L Club Part 2

Here is my new to me L-1000. It is a 1981 - it has a poplar body and a maple neck. I bought it with a pretty good clear refinish job on what was originally probably green or blue judging by the traces of color in the electronics cavity and neck pocket. The poplar body naked really didn’t have a nice grain and did have a couple of dark areas so I had it repainted a color similar to fender’s arctic white. It was refinished anyway so now I have a great playing, sounding bass and pretty darn good looking bass now.

I don't think the knobs are original, I did have the jack replaced and the little red thing on the switch isn't original either.
But I'm loving it.

They look just like the knobs on my L1k.

Yesterday I played a 1982 L-1000 with mahogany body and maple fretboard at my local bass store. Man, did that thing sound GOOD!

And it played well too. I'd never seen one before, let alone played it. Fantastic.

I prolly have a number but I just wanted to show this one off again. My 1980 L1000. :D It's strung with chromes now. Big chunky tone. The OMG switch is usually too much for my playing styles though.

It was shiny when I got it 2 years ago but not anymore. It gets a lot of play time so the finish is rapidly hazing. Anyone know of a solution to old finishes going cloudy?

mine is an 1981 and I was looking at this old closed thread Club Wunkay and there looks like a few different kinds of knobs. It is nice to look at all the L-1000's folks have.

Yeah the knobs on your 81 are not original. They switched to p bass style knobs in later years. You can see the original knobs in the pics I just posted. Anyway nice white finish on your L1000.
