Took my new L2K trib to a small rehearsal today. Just me & the drummer and MAN did it sound excellent!

I kept it in parallel (thats the "quieter" mode, right?) and it sounded excellent. We do classic & modern rock covers and the bass had a great tone for the material. Even though I kept it in active mode, its not a "hi-fi" sounding bass at all.

REALLY glad I got this!

I'm curious what strings people in this club like to use with their G&Ls

I like roundwounds and through the body. I'm favoring D'Addario Nickel super long roundwounds.

I have a fretless L2500 with an ebony board.

I've experimented a lot with strings the last couple years, swapping them among different basses to hear the differences.

Here's what they're all wearing currently:

hog/ebony L-1000: GHS Precision Flats
ash/maple L-1000: D'Addario Chromes
El Toro: Dunlop nickel rounds
L-2000: SIT Silencers
L-2500: TI Jazz Flats

Interesting input on strings here. I posted that same question outside the club thread and the responses were in favor of nickel rounds.
Mine came equipped with steel rounds that my seller warned me were getting old. To my ears they sounded fine at rehearsal on Sunday so I'm not going to change them yet. But a friend of mine sent me a couple of sets of DR Nickel Lowriders a few weeks ago because I was going to try them on my vintage Peaveys but now I'm thinkng one set is going to find its way to my new-to-me Trib.

This is why I like being part of an owners club around here. Lots of good info to be found when you get a particular brand of bass for the 1st time.

I found the Sunbeams to be "too warm, and not enough like real rounds" in terms of aggression.
The Dunlop nickels are pretty nice.
