Just had a "why-didn't-I-try-that-before" moment with the L2500.

For a while I've been wondering why the low B didn't speak with as much authority as the other strings

Went to the G&L website, noticed that the series pickup mode is labeled "bass boost" and the parallel pickup mode "bass cut" and thought "hmmmmmmmmmm"...

put the pickups in series mode, lowered the B string action and

you could also raise the B poles, if you're not happy with the rest of the overall balance...


yes, true. I love that aspect of the MFD pickups

I found, by the way, no amount of raising of the pole pieces could defeat the effect that running the pickups in parallel mode had on the low frequencies. Perhaps there is some sort of phase shifting going on... :eyebrow: dunno
