Yep. Thats what I'm doing now. I loosened the nut and its laying in the case now all tuned up. I'm just waiting for the neck to bow some and then I'll start to work with it. I'm just hoping that it doesn't take too long. I'm also hoping that this is the problem and nothing worse. I'd hate to send it back now. I contacted the dealer and he told me that on Monday, he'll contact G&L and see what they suggest.

People have told me about necks bent backwards with no truss rod tension. Such necks are presumed defective and as I understand it fixing them requires steaming and warping in a special jig.

Most basses/guitars will respond to this to a point. Keep the humidity around 40%, not really lower than 35%. I keep my music room around 48-50% all year for consistency, but if you lower the humidity a little it may help. However, this does take some time to have the effect on the wood. The best thing to do is what you are currently doing............Leave the trussrod slack, and keep the strings in tune, or actually a little "over tuned". It does not hurt if you have a set of higher tension strings either..............I know the Rotosound Monel Flats are higher tension than most rounds. You can also use a 5 string set, and tune/over tune your guitar BEAD temporarily. The wider strings will not hurt you nut slots if you lay a blank acoustic bridge saddle in front of it for a shim, or something similar. Sounds like your guitar is close, so it should really not be that hard to fix/adjust.............See what G&L says, and if it bothers you enough to not like the guitar the entire time you own it! You sure about the BEAD thing? Most B strings have lower tension than the G string they would replace.

Here's the list of string tensions of the back of my box of D'Addario ELX170-5's (0.045 - 0.130)

G - 19.41kg
D - 23.27kg
A - 19.05kg
E - 16.55kg
B - 15.65kg

I raised the tuning on the bass. Low E is now F# and the bass is tuned. I just checked it and the neck has definitely moved some. The buzz on the E string is gone now. So I plan on leaving it for another day and I need help on setting it up next. I don't know if I should Lower the saddles first or tighten the nut on the truss rod to remove some of the relief. Any suggestions?

Oh and I assume that I should tune it to Standard tuning before I do anything. Right?

Depends on the string type/make............And if you "over tune" the B string, the heavier gauge will help! ;)

BadAssBassPlayer forum.
The G&L fourm there commissioned three limited runs of special order instruments, thru G&L dealer Guitar Man NYC.
The first run was ~17 L2000's in blackburst, with ebony boards, and the K-mode single coil switching.
The second run was ~24 L2500's in black burst, with the choice of maple, r/w or ebony boards, these also had K-mode switching.
During this period of time, the blackburst color and K-mode switching were only available on these basses. You can special order either now.
The last run was ~22 L1000's...these were available in either tobaccoburst or candy apple red, IIRC, which I may not, with either maple or ebony boards.

Well......... My BABP L2000 is blackburst with Ebony board, but it has an ash body. My BABP L1000 is also blackburst. It has a rosewood board, and an alder body.

Sorry I don't have pics - someday I'll buy a functioning camera or phone. (right now I'm too poor for either.)
