In my experience it is. You tune up the new neck but leave the truss rod nut totally loose and slowly (the amount of time of which depends upon the wood, luck, temperature and a bunch of other stuff) the strings will slowly (talking from days to months) pull relief into the neck. Once you see the relief being about what you want you tighten the truss rod nut to counterbalance the string tension and the increasing relief will stop.

Yep. Thats what I'm doing now. I loosened the nut and its laying in the case now all tuned up. I'm just waiting for the neck to bow some and then I'll start to work with it. I'm just hoping that it doesn't take too long. I'm also hoping that this is the problem and nothing worse. I'd hate to send it back now. I contacted the dealer and he told me that on Monday, he'll contact G&L and see what they suggest.
