I just had my L2500 trib modded with a stacked concentric volume pot and wired where I have (2) on-on-on switches (parallel, outerSC, series) dedicated to each pickup.
I'm really digging the sound I can get with the single coil setting on the neck pickup and blending in either a series or parallel setting on the bridge pickup. Like a P bass with lots of tonal variations.
Probably the cheapest bass I ever bought, but it will most likely end up the being most useful of all my slabs!

Any of you guys go with the vintage fret option, especially on the JB?
I finally took the plunge and ordered a JB, it showed up at noon Wednesday and was shipped back by 2pm Thursday. Absolutely beautiful instrument but the super tall clanky frets are a total deal breaker for me. I don't like the feel (or lack thereof the fretboard) or the ping/clank from jumbos. Sounded good but not really appropriate for a J bass IMHO.
I've only played G&L's briefly before and assumed that medium jumbo mean't something similar to what Fender calls med/jumbo on the American Standard series. The G&L are considerably taller (.055" vs. 036" I believe).
Thinking I may just have to place a custom order and get one with the vintage frets. I had to lower the G string saddle almost all the way to set this one up with the tall frets so I'd assume the neck would need to be shimmed with the vintage frets if I ordered one.
Love to hear from anyone with experience with the vintage frets on a G&L. Thanks.

That makes me sad. I would love to see them get a 19mm bridge string spacing on a fiver. It is the only reason I have not bought one.

I've had a 1980 L-1000 for around 20 years and love the neck profile on it. I also have a late 90's L-2000, which has a thinner profile that I don't like quite as much.
Were there multiple profile and/or width options for necks on the early L-1000s? I'd love to get another L or maybe an M with that nice chunky feel of my old wunkay.
