G&L Club Part 6

Has anyone yet had any experience with the Savannah Collection ASAT? I have only seen them online, as no one in my area is carrying one, but good grief! Talk about GAS!!!

Some people may think I’m crazy, but this bass has me thinking of selling my US Lakland Glaub to get one of these. I am currently G&L-less and this would happily get me back into the fold.

Farley, did you ever find the G&L Asat, you were looking for?

I have one here if you are interested. TRADED/Gone
Thanks

just threw a set of D'addario nickels on my L1K. it's got one hell of a crunchy tone in S/C with everything dimed. after going through pro steels, chromes, boomers, hi beams, black beauties, rotosound flats i think the D'addario nickels are the best match for this bass.

That's what I thought for a long time too...
That is until I bought my L2500 off a TBer and it came with Dunlop DBN 2015 or perhaps DBN 2025 and I loved them. Cheap too. Not saying you'll like them better but just giving you one more thing to try!

And fer sure D'addario half-rounds are THE strings for a fretless L2500!
Tone to die for.

Just goes to show YMMV... I tried the Dunlops on my fretless L2500 several times and hated them every time!

Haven't tried the half-rounds on my L2500, but I do sometimes use them on a MusicMan-inspired fretless. They do sound fantastic!

that's one string i forgot about. i did try them a few times on different basses and nothing about them really stood out to me. but that was last year, before i really dialed in my setups and knew what i wanted and needed out of a bass. so, i suppose i could give them one more try.

Aha! So you're the lucky one. Congrats, you saved me from acquiring yet ANOTHER bass! :)

Yeah... I also watched it when it came up the time before but I wasn't sure I'd like the single coils so I passed.

I'm sure glad I picked it up this time. It's a great player and the single coils sound fantastic after playing mostly P-style basses for the past year. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the Moses neck.
