Thank you for this information and the comparison. My wife suspected the issue was the gleaming bright white of the pearloid just as you have proven. I suspect that if I got an aged white pearloid pickguard, the pickups would look too white. I'm just going to roll with it.

Get another pickguard just like it and cut pieces to top the emgs with! a match
You could apply it to the pickup tops with double stick tape, there is some super thin stuff I use to holdfast my routing templates . It sticks hard, but leaves no residue .

If......IF.....I were to modify them pickups I might consider painting them purple, but I highly doubt I'd do that. Schecter has a purple bass with purple EMG soap bars and it looks awesome.

I was referring to the G&L colour called Old School Tobaccoburst (OST).

The plot thickens. I received an email from EMG customer service and they believe that I received an ivory pair of pickups. They agreed to ship me a another set of pickups and I just need to send back the pickups themselves and not the electronics. We shall see what arrives.

Your eyes see more of the subtleties than the camera can capture.

I may have inspired you to get the Marty Bell finish. But that grape!!
I have a few natural basses to finish , after that complete a tangerine sparkle single cut short scale Tele, then a Turquoise mega flake Guild X bass.

Now thanks to you, I'm going to add a 4004 clone in Plum Crazy.
